Not sure if this is where this should go, but anyway...
Hi, I'm new here but I've been DDRing off and on for 2 years. I enjoy the workout mode but don't take the game's "results" seriously, I just like to know that I've put in a full half hour ^_^
Here's my problem: I live in a 3rd floor apartment. My downstairs neighbor badmouthed me knowing that I was within hearing range about how it sounded like I was "coming through the ceiling."
I know, I know, DDR has that big warning at the start-up that tells you not to disturb your neighbors. Before I ever played the game I inspected every part of my apartment to find the floor areas that do not creak/squeak when walked on. I try to DDR only when my neighbor is not home, but sometimes she comes home in the middle of my half hour workout.
Is there anything that I can do to minimize the amount of noise DDRing creates? I'm not overweight and I've always had the jumps turned off so that it wouldn't be a bother to anyone. For all I know this lady was just being nasty or having a bad day, but it hurt my feelings and I'm hesitant to DDR anymore. ( I know that's probably overreacting but I don't want to be kicked out of my apartment or anything!)
Any advice would be gladly appreciated.

Playing on a rug will help reduce some of the noise going to the lower floor.

Go down and talk to her. Tell her that you do this and that you only do it for half an hour a day. She will most likely understand, just try to do it during reasonable hours!

I did place the mat over a thick area rug but apparently that didn't help.
The woman is not a nice person in general and I really don't feel comfortable talking to her. Her boyfriend is also extremely intimidating. They do drugs and the police have been there repeatedly for domestic abuse. I really don't want a confrontation with the likes of them over DDR.
I've stopped DDRing for the time being and am considering a gym membership. It's just not worth the hassle of dealing with my neighbors.
Thanks tho.
Edit: I was DDRing at 2pm, not an unreasonable time.

Did your neighbour only badmouth you, or did they come up and actually talk to you. Because if they are only talking about you behind your back, i'd keep playing. Don't give them the satisfaction of ruining your game time!

If they haven't said anything yet, I wouldn't worry much about it until it happens, especially if you're playing in reasonable hours. Even someone who's strung out won't get violent over thumping, they'd probably just bang on the roof, or in the worst-case scenario call the cops, but it's not like you're doing anything illegal - and they are. So that's not likely.
