hello everyone my name is Sean and I am new to these boards. I have finally pulled myself into a system to loose some weight the safe way. I weigh about 260lb and am not happy. I started playing ddr at the begging of the week and I have a couple questions.
1. For someone who is 260lb what is a good goal to start with on loosing Kcal a day. I have it set to 600 kcal right now.
2. What are some ways you guys keep yourself motivated to keep playing each day to loose some weight.
3. What other suggestions do you advise while i work out that is easy enough to keep up with.
On top of playing ddr 5-6 days a week i have also been trying to watch what i eat (staying away from the junk food), drinking alot of oj, milk, and water. Also I have been taking a multi vitamin a day. Am I on the right track?

First off, I just want to welcome you to the boards. If you have questions, feel free to ask as there are numerous members here who are quite knowledgeable. I really can't speak on the first question, sorry. What keeps me motivated to play DDR is fun. To me, it's a game, first and foremost, weight loss too second. It's a lot easier to exercise if you enjoy the activity. For some, it's running or basketball. For others, like us, it's DDR. The main component of any weight loss/exercise regime is consistency and perseverance. It may take a while for your work to show results. Keep at it and you'll do great.

For starting out, the only thing you really need to look out for is consistency. It doesn't matter as much how long you play, how many artificially calculated Calories it claims you burn, or any of that. What matters most is that you Get on the Pad EVERY DAY. Even if it's just for one song. Build that habit, and the rest will start to fall into place on its own.

Honestly - You can keep your play time in under an hour every day and get a heck of a lot out of it. It's about INTENSITY. If you're not tired or feel like you haven't accomplished much out of your workout, it's because you probably haven't.
Also - and I'm going to be quite blunt about this. Your diet is 100X more important than any kind of cardio to be doing. Obviously exercise is going to be a great factor, but if your diet isn't tip-top, don't expect much to happen.
I'd like to hear a rough template of what you're eating on a daily basis... portions and times eaten would be greatly beneficial.
