When you play DDR, what little thing messes you up?
I'm not super-skilled like most of you, so mainly things like this can drop my combo to 0:
Someone continually yelling out the combo Thinking about what I haven't done or how dirty the TV is The TV being on an angle and the mat being in a different position

Hmm. Well, not to be curt, but I think you to need to focus a little more intently on what you're doing. I know it can be tough, especially if your life outside is hectic, but exercise should be 100% or nothing... including DDR.
Some tips: Try turning off the anouncer in the game. That may help keep you from getting distracted while playing.
Think solely about those arrows in front of you! Strive to beat your previous score each and every time you play a song... that way you'll be forced to focus.
Personally, and this is after about 6 or so years of DDR, the only thing that really distracts me is when I'm doing crossovers and the third step in a sequence is missed. Usually it's my own fault, but it gets on my nerves any time I see a huge combo broken because of a stupid step pattern.

What catches me is the I can't seem to let a missed step go. If I miss a step, I automatically try to hit it anyway, which leads to another missed step, etc, etc. It's a little like performing music, if you miss a note, just let it go. I have very little problem doing this when I perform music, but for some reason, I haven't developed the skill very well on dance games.

The thing that ALWAYS threw me off was heckling bitches. I wanted to go punch them in their face holes.

I am totally a heckling bitch, by the way.
And I NEEEVER think of only arrows when I am ddring. I think about the sweat dripping off of me, or the things that I need to do the next day or things like that. I either super pass or super fail. But i'm more about the sweaty times than a high score.

What stops me from playing on a given day? The lazy, that's what.
What screws me up mid-play? Missing a note, mostly. Or looking at my combo gauge. I have a tendency to have combos die in the mid to late 90's. Tho recently I've learned to just stop looking at it. Makes getting to 100 or better yet, comboing an entire song a lot easier.
