My scale broke, it was old and well-used lol - so at this point I think I'm about 220 - 230 lbs. I just bought my very first ddr mat, i happened on Supernova 2 for ps2 at bestbuy and grabbed it and the game. I went for DDR X, for ps2, but it wasn't in stock. I will most likely buy it at a later date.
On Supernova 2, I tried "Unbelievable" on 'beginner' mode. Was a bit of a distaster lol - I'm tired, though, so I'll try again in the morning. I was sweating and it was pretty slow and I was pretty clumsy.
I really love the whole concept of ddr as exercise. I wish I'd have thought of ddr about 2000 dollars and 10 years ago of buying exercise videos I never use.
I bought outdoor challange for Wii and it is a definate challange, but I don't find myself motivated to use it other than a lark when the kids are doing it. I did buy the We Cheer game for Wii and think it's extremely challanging and very full-body workout but requires a lot of memorization, which is fine, it's so so fun and great. We Cheer has been a great discovery and I adore it.
I thought I'd share my new exercise routine (which i think soon will include ddr tomorrow IF i can't get the hang of it! lol) that I am sure has netted me at least five pounds in weight loss this week and inches I can feel are missing around my considerable middle - but first I'd like to preface that I'm a terrible dieter, tho when I really exercise hard and sweat i find I eat much less and my appetite is controlled. Routine I've done for about 8 days now is as follows:
In the morning when I wake up, make coffee, and I set up my Rock Band 2 drums. I drum about 10 songs which is pretty physical work, and fun. Not everyone might enjoy drums at 6 am, but I find it's when my mind is most sharp (after coffee kicks in lol).
Then coffee has fully kicked in and it's about 7am now and I play 9 holes of golf on Wii Sport. I play it exactly as if i were really golfing. I do practice swings, i concentrate quite hard at it. I also switch each day, alternating swinging the club with my left hand one day, then switch back to right the next. Good work out for both sides of the body.
Then I usually play 10 frames of bowling.
Then switch to about 5 sets of tennis. I play the tennis in my living room with a backhand, etc,. and really run around making it very physical.
I end "We Sport" with about two games of baseball and I stand and swing and throw the ball just like I was playing in real life.
We Sport on wii is quite a work out!
I then finish with We Cheer and do a routine on it about 9x which is quite a full body workout.
I usually collapse about three hours later, I am just exhausted! I need a nap, often.
Now ddr has been added. So I'll update on how it goes tomorrow, but I just wanted to lend some support to any ddr's or gamers using their consoles to lose weight.
Nice to meet you all
