I love the dance mats and try to get on them at any opertunity i get. but i reall ywan tone of my own. I'v eogt on eof those sad ones that you plug into the back of the tv. In my house we have a ps2 and ive heard of games and that you can get for there. do you have to but a proper mat or anything? ive heard that the arcade ones cost thousands!!

You should be able to find a copy of Dance Dance Revolution (Dancing Stage in the UK) that comes bundled with a soft mat fairly easily. If you find that those mats aren't holding up well enough for you, you can try modding your own (Check the articles on ddrfreak.com for more information about how to do this), or you can buy a foam mat. Basically a foam mat is the same as a soft mat, but with a piece of sturdy foam you insert to give the mat more stability. If you want to go the hardcore route, yes, you can build your own for about $100 (give or take), or you can buy a metal mat from RedOctane or Cobalt Flux for $200-$300.
And yes, a full arcade machine, new, will set you back about $8000-$13000.
