I've started work on a couple of ITG edits, harder stuff that I enjoy to songs I like, and I was wondering if anyone else has written edits before and if anyone had any tips, advice, etc...

1 thing I've learned is to not go crazy with the hands, I don't know if that helps it probably dosen't but it really ruins an edit if it has to many hands that don't really fallow the music.

No that does help. I had an edit with alot of hand and I took them out.

Another thing. I've found that at least on arcade pads, hands + holds = VERY ANNOYING. Arcade pads are hard to sustain enough force to complete a hand-hold... especially if the pads are wearing out. If these are edits you're going to be using at arcades, keep the hands down a little bit, but the hand-holds to a minimum.
If you're doing rolls, I'd advise against doing one foot rolls, as they tend to just be plain awKWard. They can work well if used sparingly and properly, but just don't go nuts with them.
And as always, try to follow the music. Don't just put in a 16th run for the sake of adding difficulty, or the chart will, again, feel a little strange and awKWard.

I only do two foot rolls for that very reason Spooty. I noticed you were talking about edits in your personal post thing. If you get around to writing some for ITG, I wanna try them.
Or if you already write them for ITG hook me up.

I don't have ITG PC or SM. I suppose I should get at least one of the two. Until then, I'm limited to DDR edits... which is extremely limited. (No hands or rolls, plus some very bizarre rules on triplets).

Ever since our ITG machine was upgraded to r21, I have been a nonstop edit creating freak :-D
I use stepmania to edit, never had a problem with anything I've made. Just turn the assist tick on to make sure your dead on beat :-)

Quasar + Air + Heaven + Uber Rave = Yes. Edits are the ultimate calorie burning shiz.

I was talking about step edits. Song edits are absolute glory.
