The closest DDR Arcade Machine is about five minutes from my house. I played on it a few nights ago and I'm happy to say I didn't stink as bad as I thought I would've (I'm still lost though as to how I beat Xepher on Medium but lost to Drop The Bomb on Expert, when the latter has less feet). Anyway, it was good fun.

There are DDR machines at the mall twenty minutes from my house. One's at the movie theater and the other is in a dedicated arcade. I go and play once in a while when I'm hanging out with friends. I remember one instance when I was playing while waiting for a movie to start and a couple of boys came up to me and asked me if I did DDR professionally. Interestingly enough, I was on an "off-night." I played again a few nights ago and I started to wonder whether or not DDR players are a dying breed. The machine I was playing on was, to put it charitably, an absolute piece of crap with some of the buttons not working. There's also the notion of John Q. Public clamoring around a machine being orchestrated by a player with decent skill and ogling in wonder like it was a Discovery/BBC documentary.
Maybe it's just a reflection of the times (the death of DDR OR the death of arcades).
I still have my dance mat and DDR HP3. However, since I moved into the apartment with my girlfriend, my DDR days have been cut short as all of the floors have carpeting (unless anyone has a remedy???).

Played DDR again at the movie theater and I took my first stumble.
I was playing Burnin' The Floor (Euro Edition) and missed the left arrow by a wide margin and fell off the machine. Not a lot of people were around, so it was not a big deal. Later that evening, I played again and knocked out a few hard songs. Right afterwards, I nearly passed out from heat exhaustion.
Am I getting old? I know I overdid it, but stuff like that was easy a few years ago...
