UPDATE: The BMS homepage has an update on it about SuperNova. It reads: Super NOVA, Worldwide + BEATMANIA US UPDATE -[Wed Jan 25, 2006 5:29 pm ]- Reenee Konami Press Release wrote: REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - January 25, 2006 - Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc., today announced that Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) SuperNOVA™ will be released to arcades nationwide. The first arcade version of the best-selling dance video game series to be released in North America in more than six years, DDR SuperNOVA uses a completely new hardware engine that has been refined to deliver vibrant 3D backgrounds, cool music videos and crisp high-resolution graphics. With the worldwide success and established fan base of DDR at its highest level ever, DDR returns to its arcade roots with DDR SuperNOVA, the largest game in the series with over 300 songs and 2,000 dance patterns available. Powered by an enhanced graphics engine, DDR SuperNOVA features animated on-screen dancers that are displayed in life-like realism. Additionally, the game features all-new modes including a Tutorial mode to teach new users the necessary DDR dancing skills and an exciting Battle Mode where players duke it out by sending powerful attacks to each other, altering the gameplay in real-time. DDR SuperNOVA will also be designed to support linking features in future iterations of the series for home gaming consoles. At the heart of any DDR game is the music selection and DDR SuperNOVA is the largest game in the series. Over 300 songs are included in the game, ranging from a wide variety of musical genres that encompass famous smash-hit songs and Konami original tunes. With the largest song library to date, players will have access to more than 2000 dance step patterns plus the ability to alter the dance steps. Thinner Mr. Wendell, DDRFreak Staff wrote: The announcement of DDR SuperNOVA in the United States came as no surprise today, with plenty of notes and tidbits already disclosed from the ATEI. However, the buzz around the largest DDR mix to ever be launched was very tangible at Konami's Gamers Day in San Francisco this morning. A keynote address by Yoshihiko Ota, Executive Producer of Dance Dance Revolution noted that the United States should see Supernova populating arcades across the country this Spring. Furthermore, he noted that a European launch of the same game would follow. Lastly, Japan would see SuperNOVA in the arcades to complete the worldwide launch. SuperNOVA touts a very robust, entirely new engine that makes for sleeker gameplay, new art style backgrounds, and a 300-plus songlist with over 2000 step patterns. New dancers and motion-captures give SuperNOVA even more eye candy than previously offered. From a functionality standpoint, Battle Mode, reminiscent of Disney's Rave/Disney's Mix wil be available, as will Oni and Nonstops. The game will support home version connectivity features, and user-created step data will be playable in the arcade. Images courtesy of DDRFreak and Konami. GameSpot Movie Already! --- Edit : This is a link if you go to bemanistyle.com Cutriss of DDRFreak also said that you should expect songs to be removed from the ATEI build. www.ddrsupernova.com is the official site for the game but it is not up yet. P.S. New Beatmania stuffs: See new screens and a new movie at Gamespot.com. Songlist courtesy of Orange Lounge Radio. New songs: Moby - Lift Me Up Timo Maas - First Day Lipps, Inc. - Funkytown And remixes of "Toxic", "Celebration", "Virtual Insanity"! RAM - SNOW Y & Co. - BAD BOY BASS! dj TAKA - Colors (Radio edit) DJ Setup - NEMESIS Outphase - Summer Vacation (CU Mix) Y & Co. - Attitude dj TAKA - V (surprise, surprise) Mr. T (Take Me Higher) TaQ - Digital MinD (AT Libra Mix) I don't think that the images will show, but go to www.bemanistyle.com to look at them. Or one of the other links.

DOUBLE POST!!! DDR going SuperNOVA in spring Latest version of Konami's dance arcade game will sport 300 songs and 2,000 dance patterns. For six years, gamers have risked sprained ankles and hyperventilation while trying to reach the highest levels of Dance Dance Revolution. Soon, though, virtual rug-cutters will need even fancier footwork if they want to successfully strut their funky stuff in arcades. DDR SuperNOVA See Konami's new arcade game in action. Watch | Download --- Edit: Go to the link at the bottom and you'll have these options As part of its 2006 Konami Gamers' Day publicity fusillade, Konami announced it is prepping a new DDR game for release. Called Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA, the game will sport more than 2,000 different dance patterns and 300 songs. Though no specific song titles were mentioned, the publisher said the game's music library would draw on "a wide variety of musical genres that encompass famous smash-hit songs and Konami original tunes." Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA will also use an all-new game engine based on a new arcade board. The engine will allow for full 3D graphics, which will be used to animate the game's onscreen dancers, as well as play a variety of as-yet-unnamed music videos. It will sport a tutorial mode for novices, and a battle mode to let those with more seasoned soles face off. Acknowledging the game's success outside the arcade, Konami announced that Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA is being "designed to support linking features in future iterations of the series for home gaming consoles." However, the company did not specify which consoles the game would come to, raising the possibility that a next-gen DDR is in the works. Konami did not announce a specific release date for DDR SuperNOVA, saying only that it "will be released in arcades nationwide" in the spring. I'm looking forward to this. I hope the home version has at least a hundred songs on it, that would be nice.

I really want to try Facination MAXX and Healing-D-Vision bacause I want to know what it's like to play a hard song on DDR and not ITG. Agreed. PSMO kept me occupied for a bit, but once I figured out the streams near the end, it just kinda fell into place and got easy. ITG, however, still has plenty of songs I have yet to pass... But with Supernova, looks like they're kicking up the difficulty... For those of you who don't know the insanity that is Fascination MaxX, here's a link of a guy passing it on extra stage... youtube.com/watch?v=0rk5Trf7MH0Finally, a DDR song that seems like it might rival the difficulty of ITG 12's and 13's. Yay. Wish I could play it now...

Amen, which is why we just got our Supernova machine yesterday, going to play for the 1st time tonight. OMGGG I can't wait! Edit: Ok I'm home from my 1st Supernova adventure! YA! I was plunking tokens in that thing faster than an old lady at a slot machine! The poor ITG 2 machine didn't get any love from me tonight. Awww.. lol YA FOR SUPERNOVA! It's so nice to play DDR again with a big olpoo eating grin again! There is a sync issue, I noticed it on a few songs but if you just roll your eyes and ignore it (and wait patiently for Konami's patch to fix it) It's not a bother.

I played my first Supernova the other day... but I wasn't able to properly appreciate by reaching the extra stage, thanks to the fact that I hadn't played in 2 weeks.

I just need to vent.
The arcade near my house still has poster for SuperNova up but no Machine yet, I'm starting to get really jealous that everywhere else pretty much has SuperNova. I thought we were going to get it sooner, because i herd that The ITG2 Dedicab at the arcade was the first one in Canada, but there are now SuperNova Machines all over Canada but none in Ottawa,
that felt good.
