I have played the DDR for Wii and its pretty rad...the hand movements are tricky but if I play it a bit more, I am sure I will get the hang of it...And the somg selection isn' t bad at all...

OK we had a Wii Christmas vacation. My first time playing the Wii Sports etc. Awesome fun! So of course now I want to know what DDR Hottest Party is like. I can't really tell from the videoclips what it's like.
So who here is playing it, and what do you think about it?

My wife was going to get it for me for Christmas, but couldn't find it (everywhere seemed to be sold out). I'm hoping we can find a copy soon, but given how quickly both printings of Mario Mix sold out for the Gamecube, I'm afraid.

Have you searched YouTube for some Hottest Party vids?
I hear the game is similar to Mario Mix (same engine) meaning no speed mods, however it has arrow additions (similar to the eye-toy hands and feet mode). If you just wanted a song list, you can get all of the songs/steps for StepMania (PM if you need link). So it just depends on what you want to know. If you have a Wii, you should probably get a copy of the game unless your dance pads are for PS2 only.

I own this, and it is alright. I enjoy jpop/jrock songs but this features none. The mat that comes with it is also smaller than most mats that come with ps2 ddr mats.

so i'm a new wii owner. but i used to play a little ddr on xbox and ps2. the whole thing with the arm movements it's always on, and it's wayyyyy weird to get used to. my whole point in buying hottest party was to get really good at playing. so until i've mastered the game at a proficient level, i've used to game options to just turn off the hand movements, and play it using only the mat.

Does anyone have a list of songs on DDR Hottest Party?

Laura! You live! I was beginning to think you never came by here anymore. I've missed you. Anyway, enough of that. You can find a song list here: www.gamefaqs.com/console/wii/file/938140/50448It's not consolidated, so it takes some looking, but all the songs are there. The nice thing is that it looks like all of the licensed tracks are available from the get go, so it's a good intro DDR game for non-players. I still have to break my copy out of shrink (I've only had it two days).

So I got Hottest Party and it's an OK game, but no way can I do the flat mat no shoes. I definitely need to play metal pad, shoes on. So....anybody know of some kind of adapter that will connect my Flux to the Wii? ??

Didn't they have Gamecube adapters for the Flux?

I've had my Wii for 1.5 years, but this is the best physical game I've bought for it. I'm hooked.

Has anyone passed the Samuri song yet? What happens when I beat it? Is that the end of the game or do I open more songs/stages?

I'm new to this board but I had to join and say what a ddr freak i've become! ;D I've only been playing about a month now but its so freakin awesome. My friend and I started playing HP2 and we just couldn't stop. We were literally playing for about 4 hours a day, 6 days a week for the first 2 weeks. We actually beat the game, or so we thought, and found out there is another set of challenges once you beat the game. The second set of challenges are all on difficult which is really hard for me so I'm at a standstill at this point. Difficult just has way too many foot movements going on. Anyone get past this?

Play play play! The more you beat it out on that mat the more you'll be familiar with the more complicated foot patterns. Moving to difficult is probably the hardest thing you'll do playing DDR because they introduce a step between the ones on beat, and potentially one between those too. But don't worry, you'll get the hang of it soon enough!
Welcome to the boards, by the way!

I agree with Grant. The more you play, the less you see individual steps, and the more you'll start to see "phrases" of steps. Just as when you are learning to read, you move from seeing individual letters, to seeing words, and even sentences.

So far, my experience with Hottest Party has been lukewarm. While it's great that the Wii has a dedicated DDR game, I definitely find myself missing the old days with the PS2. I don't like the gimmicks or the hand motions (turned those off) and the songlist isn't as strong (or as substantial, coming in at 50 songs each as opposed to 70) as it was five years ago. On the other hand, it's still cheaper than Wii Fit (costed me the same amount to buy HP 1, 2, and 3 w/ a mat as it did to get Wii Fit) and it's more fun to play.
