I joined the army and ship to basic may 7. Any tips on how to get into shape within the next month? I dont necessarily want to lose weight, because ill lose enough at basic, but i want to be able to run for at least 3 miles. As of right now, I can run/walk a mile in about 10min 30sec. but i have to be able to run 2 miles in 18 minutes. Any tips for an entire routine?
I would love to include ddr and jumping rope as well as running but i just dont know where to start. Any tips on building endurance?

Run every day, but vary your routine each day. Some days, just cover the distance. Other days, do wind sprints (sprint as hard as you can for 30-45 seconds, walk or jog lightly for another 30 seconds). You can do similar stuff with the rope jumping. DDR lends itself well to the interval workout (1:30 for a song, then catch your breath).

I can't offer any advice. I'd like to show my admiration to a lady who can run that long. Half-mile run was a mandatory fitness test back in my junior high school. We did it twice yearly for 3 years. On the morning of the test, I wished my legs were chopped off or had congenital heart disease, like the lucky boy in another class, so I didn't have to do it. I had 'near-death' experience every time I did that test and I was always the last one in group. One time, my coach had to forge my result to save me from doing it again. He didn't like to be dishonest. I remember his face. Good luck to your training. When you reach your goal, be proud of yourself, because you've done what other girls are not capable of .
