This show was on TLC I believe, it showed stories of people eating so much that they are confined to their living quarters, and in some cases, the paramedics had to destroy walls in their homes to get them out and to the hospital when they were near death.
The sad part about this, is the people want to stop eating so much, but...they do not have the will, they are in love with food, and they cannot stop eating.
This hit close to home because in my past, I would eat whatever I wanted, which brought me up to 289 pounds (at 6-foot 3-inches) so I decided to cut back...
I could barely watch the show because it showed how bad food really is. Even the guy who was 500 something pounds (down from 900) had a FULL table of food just stacked together, at about 15,000 calories just on the table, and he started eating all of it.
If you guys haven't seen this, I would recommend it, it really opened my eyes to what can happen. You think you know what food can do to you, but you truly don't know til you see it.

Wow, it's sad to hear what happened to these people.
I would eat more than I need if I'm upset. So the 'stuffed' feeling gives me some kind of comfort. Even though it only attacks me once in a while, slowly I gained quite some pounds.
One thing good about DDR is it makes me happy. Whenever I experience mood swing, I just go to basement stomp on my soft pad. So my over-eating episode is permanently replaced. I hope.

I saw that show and it was quite sad. Food is there drug addiction. I was horrified at how much they could eat in one day. That lady and her son, I was kinda mad at the son cause it's like your killing your mom by getting her all this food. Id be a little ashamed or more afraid of bringing over friends because they would poke fun. Its really sad.

I saw that before. It was so depressing--but it did make me motivated to work on my weight loss a bit more :]

That's sad. Food is totally a drug, not to mention all those chemicals acting as hormones and whatnot, too. Still, though, I ocassionally like the feeling of being so stuffed I have to undo my pants.

I feel just as bad for the son, he's as much of a prisoner as the mom if not more. I used to weigh 276 pounds so I certainly can relate to the stories. I often found myself afraid or wondering if that could happen to me. I wondered how I could eat so much. As a vegetarian I gained weight because I was eating so many packaged and refined bread products. Did you ever noticed that a lot of people in poverty are very obese? In my opinion I blame processed foods and the preservatives and flavor enhancers that are in them like the dreaded MSG. They keep your body fat, water bloated and you get hungry from them before you've even fully digested the foods.
I was fed Top Ramen and Kraft Mac n Cheese, fish sticks and lunch meat with cheese slices on Wonder bread just like so many of the obese people in this world. By the time I was in fourth grade, I had a huge appetite. These foods create addictions and hormonal imbalances that are frightening.

Will Power is hard with food. I recently am now able to leave food sitting on a table at a restaurant and NOT eat it when I say "I'm full" lol
