That's my plan for the next month or so, by deciding not to eat the fried, greasy, and otherwise delicious but bad for you foods at the cafeteria, I hope to spur my weight loss even more. By only eating things I make myself, that will a.) help me make sure I know how many calories I am eating. and b.) help me eat less...because I am lazy and don't want to make food all the time

When I lived on campus at my university, I had to have a meal plan at the campus eating facilities. Most of them were fried chicken places or burger places, but we had a cafeteria that had a wide variety of choices. When I lost a whole bunch of weight my 4th year, (I was there for 6 b/c of a double major and a minor that I picked up in my 5th year) I went to the cafeteria and stuck mostly to the salad bar and making myself omlettes w/ Egg Beaters, or using the same skillets to make my own light stir fry. When I was feeling bad, I would get a meatball sub, but only eat half of the bread. I was doing some other "things" that would cause me to lose weight, but I don't recommend them at all. The only thing good about that period of time in my life was my eating habits . . . anyway, the point is that if you have a salad bar at your disposal, or if your cafeteria provides you with a way to make your own food, it is possible to eat healthier in college without abandoning campus eating facilities altogether. I am lucky enough though, that I live in a flat that has a kitchen. 5 guys per suite, 3 in single rooms, 2 in a double, attached to a kitchen and a bathroom. So I can make my own food with a real stove, and a oven. It's totally awesome.

i think the more important thing in college is avoiding the fast food trips when you're too lazy to cook during finals!!!

My college has this cool little salad bar that's 3.50 for all you can stack... And mofacko do I stack that thing for all its 3.50 worth. But even then, it's mostly lettuce and fruit, it's about 500 calories worth of salad with what I put on it. Stuffing, filling, etc. But I'll be corn-swaggled if I don't get tempted by the burgers and fries I see people eating..

i work in one of the dining halls on my campus, and i tend to be able to get special treatment with my food. I get decent options, and am careful with what i eat.
