Movie Theater Snacks

you guys have some really good ideas, but what i do to keep myself busy without food at a movie, is i just chew gum. i absolutely HATE theater popcorn (way too salty. ugh.) i usually just get a Jamaica me Crazy Parrot Ice. good stuff.

I would say that the "healthiest" item in a theatre would be the popcorn, with no extra butter/salt. I read somewhere, forgot since then, that popcorn in general is way better for you than eating chips, and yes it depends on the type of popcorn/chips and how much salt and crap is on it. But plain popcorn would be healthier than plain potato chips (not stuff like baked brands, which I like). But usually when I go to the theatre I will get a bag of popcorn and a Lemonade slush and go see my movie (last one I saw was Constantine, omg, great movie). Feel free to prove me wrong, I just heard about the popcorn idea and figured, what the hell.

Having worked at a movie theater through High school, I can tell you that movie theater popcorn is lousy for you. It's made by roughly deep frying the popcorn kernels in oil, with a high-salt flavor substitute added in. Plain, air-popped popcorn with no salt or butter is healthy, theater popcorn is not.

yeah i guess i was talking more about plain, microwave popcorn, or similar to that. but still, even theatre popcorn is healthier than some snacks people eat regularly.

Funny I spotted this. For one of my art classes tomorrow, we are going to the local theater to watch some competition shows. I'm thinking about hitting up CVS which is just down the street to get some stuff before hand.

The best movie theater snacks are those 100 calorie packs you can get at the grocery store. They have fruit snacks, oreo cookies, chips ahoy, crackers, pringles, and ritz snack mix. They're really good too.

When i go to the movies I have to have the popcorn, so I just count is as my dinner and eat nothing else. I also take 3 mini candy bars in my purse so I can have a little sweet with my salty.

Lately the previews go on and on so I am out of food when the movie starts. I hate previews!!!!!!

my problem is having to pee right when the movie starts - not wanting to miss anything and suffereing for the next 2 hours just to smash through people american gladiator style to get to the bathroom the second I see the first credit roll.

I know in our movie theater, they give you the bag of popcorn and then there is a butter machine which let's you put on as much butter as you want. Some people sit there for 5 minutes drenching their popcorn with butter. It's crazy! I usually just bring a bottle of water and wait until I can get home and eat something a little more healthier.
