So, I've been meaning to get off my *** and work out for a while, and I figured DDR would be the way to go. So I picked up DDR Universe for the 360 yesterday, and we'll see how it goes...
But I'm wondering..How much weight have you lost by playing DDR? What's your routine? How long do you play? What kind of diet, etc.
Any kind of help is appreciated!
I'm trying to stay motivated to lose weight, and knowing that DDR has actually helped people will give me a huge boost!
Currently, I'm at 240-ish, and my goal is to lose at least 10 pounds a month with a target of around 180 within a year or so.
Also, (And I know I'm rambling, sorry) both of my parents have thyroid issues, and I'm afraid I may too, and I know this makes it hard to lose weight. Anyone else have thyroid issues, but successfully lost and kept off weight?
Thanks!!!

Hello and welcome. =) DDR is definitely a great way to get in some daily exercise and start you off on a fun new routine and a lifestyle change. If you look at my ticker in my signature you can keep track of how much weight I've lost. It's a slow and steady process for me, but the weight is coming off and tracking it keeps me motivated.
I should think that you could loose 10 lbs a month for the first few months at your weight but don't get discouraged if you don't. Any loss is still loss am I right? But typically you loose a lot right away and then plateau. That's the hardest and most frustrating part and that's when diet and exercise together create the foundation for nipping away that weight that just doesn't want to go.
Everyone's routine is different. The recommendation is to get your heart rate up for a good 10 minutes and have a cool down. It doesn't take long when you first start out, but the more you play the easier the game becomes and you end up doing harder songs and harder songs and usually extend your workout. I try to get in at least a half an hour but sometimes if I'm having a good time I can play for 3 hours! Whatever works!
With your diet, just eat sensibly. Smaller portions, lots of water. Complex carbs over simple carbs, ditch the pop and try to ditch preservatives - in other works, make your own meals. We make meals in bulk at my house (my finance does this routine as well). This way we have plenty of the right foods and therefore don't fade into taking the wrong foods.
If you have a sweet tooth and need something sweet I recommend Jello pudding cups made with spends. They're only 60 calories and delicious lol.
anyways there's a chunk of info for you to chew on for now. : )
