Hello there, I'm new to the boards and new to using DDR for weight loss but certainly not to the game. I'm female , 20 and 5'6 and 247 lbs, Since I just now got a ps2 and supernova2 ( who do I keep hearing bad stuff about the game?) so I can play regularly I'm just starting out on using DDR to lose weight. I'm getting married in October 09 and while it's over a year off I really want to look good by then so that's my biggest motivation. I can't really play flat footed so I tend to only get about 4-5 songs in before I need a 10 minute break to let my left foot recover ( the arch keeps going all tingly) but after that i can play fine for another short set and I can keep doing that for at least an hour or two. Not sure quite what else to say ^-^ Edit: playing basic in gameplay mode and basic and difficult in workout since I don't fail and it's really a workout then. no jumps in workout though since they kill my ankles

I love Supernova 2, personally. I think my favorite is still Extreme 2, but regardless...you'll unlock some really great workout songs once you get going. My favorite workout song is "Take on Me" in Expert. I usually burn around 40-45 calories playing that one ^_^

DDR Supernova 2 lacks some of the most popular Supernova 2 songs from the arcade.
Supernova 2 has some horrible step-charts for songs such as Arrabbiata and NGO, possibly the worst DDR charts ever a complete lack of qualtiy control obviously.
Supernova 2 has He Said She Said with some random live music video such that the song and video don't match at all since they were two different songs.
Supernova 2 has a song called Wind It Up = puke....
And Supernova 2 doesn't have many great songs to play over and over other than Freeway Shuffle which is only a 7 and Eternus although I don't understand why a song was written FOR DDR that uses 1/12th beats and DDR isn't capable of 1/12th note arrows...
Overall, it's obvious that SN2 was a rushed project, give me DDR Max anyday.

Those calories are WAY off, in comparison I managed 39kcal last night on a song called Capital Murder from MungyoDance, it's an 11 footer and tougher than MaxX Unlimited.
Back when I used to use the DDR Calculator I would get 100kcals on MaxX Unlimited which is nowhere near accurate (100kcal is roughly the equivalent of running 1 mile, no way did I work out hard enough to equate running 1 mile in 2 minutes...)
Oh and Take On Me was featured in Dancing Stage Supernova so it wasn't new to me when brought into DDR SN2, but agreed it is a good upbeat one to play.

The only thing I would add to your post is that if you and I weigh different amounts that would make a difference in how many kcals are posted as burned.

I see.. ah well at least the game is still challenging enough for me that it's a good workout on basic alone. I'm finding I'm actually fond of most of the music ( not really interested in wind it up myself)
