Hey everyone, I'm pretty much new to this site.
I made my New Year's resolution to try to lose 80 pounds or so. I'm a male currently 20 years old, 5'6 and was weighed 215 or so on New Year's. Currently, I'm on a strict 1200 calorie/day diet. I've already seen results as I now weight 205.
Now I'm wondering, the only exercise I've been doing so far is pretty much walking to my classes for college (10 min walks on Monday and Friday and 30 min walks on Tues and Thurs). I have a cobalt flux pad laying around, but haven't really gotten to use it intensively yet. Anyone know a good amount of time I should try playing it each day? (not to the point where I feel 1200 calories won't satisfy my hunger)
Thanks.

Play enough to work your heart rate up. Get a good sweat. Keep that heart rate up for 15 min and you're golden. Time frames vary. My signif. other plays for roughly 20 min...I play usually an hour or so. It really varries from person to person. Glad to see you're getting such good results. Keep it up!

congrats on the weight loss so far pangya! you might want to bump up your daily intake a bit. my doctor advised me that females should never eat less than 1200 cals/day as a bare minimum, and males generally need more cals/day than females. eating too little cals/day will actually slow down your metabolism, making it much harder to lose weight in the long run. i've been losing a steady 1-2 lbs a week by eating around 1500 cals/day and playing ddr for 30-60 mins 4-6 days a week. best of luck!

Hey guys...
Here's a little update since I don't visit this board much:
Beginning Weight: 215 Current Weight: 188
I'm been keeping a strict 1200 calorie diet ever since I started. I don't really exercise other to walking to and from class (an hour or so per week). I really should be playing some DDR... but Computer Science classes really get me down =\.
Also... is it just me or do you really not notice a difference in your appearance around the weight I am at? I still think I look the same before I started dieting >_>

You probably won't be the first to notice your weight loss. That's because you see yourself every day, and are constantly updating your image of self. Other people, particularly those who don't see you regularly, will probably be the first to comment. That's because they have a mental snapshot of you at 215lbs, and when they see the "new" you in the 180s, what they see doesn't match what they remember. That's also why before and after pictures are so useful. It gives you that unbiased reference point.
You probably won't notice until your pants have been regularly falling down for two to three weeks.

For the past week I've been playing for about an hour-an hour and 30 min. and I've lost 5 lbs already. It might just be water weight, but people can already tell the difference. So I'd say, if you wanted a really good workout to burn those calories, maybe around an hour?

If you look at how much you lost just by walking to class, imagine if you added some DDR or other exercise to the mix! And it's completely normal to not see a difference, as abrannan said. But don't give up and keep going for it. Good luck. :)
