I had a dream last night... I dreamed that a boy I used to like who I posted about on here (no names ever mentioned) found my 'blog', and got really upset about me mentioning it. Really upset. The dream went on into some weirdness, but it made me think... what if my friends or family were to stumble on this site and read everything about me? Granted, I'm a bit more personal than some when it comes to posting (not that I mind) but I just wonder how it would make me feel if someone I knew in real life found my entries and found out so much about me. I wonder what they're reaction would be really...
Has anyone else ever thought about this?

I actually have a little bit. They would just shake their head and say "The internet is dumb. Is this what you're doing? Why don't you go and build something." Then they'd read my personal blog. "ARE YOU SMOKING POT AGAIN?!"
Yeah, something like that.

I have and had a blog on another site that wasn't weight-loss oriented, and I put my heart into it and was amazingly open. And my family DID, find it, they googled my name, and it sucked. Now I take huge measures to be ungoogleable and discreet, basically, which is the down side of getupmove... you CAN be googled.
I have another now but it's protected and only one person from my non-online friends knows of it (and TBILMTA, obviously). The reactions from family members vary. Mine weren't very bad, just skeptical annoyance at speaking about them, but my friend once had her blog found and her family found out about secrets kept... drugs, cheating on spouses, her sister went nuts and insisted she ruined the marriage and basically tried to beat the crap out of her. It was insane.
Basically, it depends on your family and what you say. I don't think you've said anything awful though. For total security and to not censor yourself, I suggest a blog with an anti-search engine code in the html.

Grant is really hard to google. And if anyone I know finds it, it's not like they're learning anything new.

Sure I've thought about it. I also fairly regularly google myself just to find out what's out there about me (Incidentally, the state of Georgia had me executed a while back for killing a police officer). I've never really been one for putting "secrets" online. If I don't want everyone to know it, I don't post it. I try to live my life fairly transparently that way.
Of course, I'm also 10 years removed from the silliness of High School.

I'm one of those assholes who googles people's names ALL the time..... But it's not like I would cry out in angst if I read something personal. I tend to put personal thoughts on here that I wouldn't normaly say out loud.. but I don't think I've ever spilt a dirty secret. I like talking and all, but I'm not dumb about it. Paranoia always kept me from even keeping a journal IRL. The mild little beans I spill on here would still make my parents kick the crap out of me, but oh well.
