Hey guys,
Quick question, in an effort to make myself not get bored, I'm thinking of adding some other exercises to my routine in addition to DDR. Since DDR is cardio based, do you think I should maybe start adding some weight training?
Only problem is, I don't know how to really do weight training...do I just buy some basic hand weights and do reps? Sorry, I've never done weight training before, just needed some advice...
So firstly, is weight training a good idea to add to my workout? Will it make me bulky or more toned? Will this not help if I still have lots of layers of fat (LoL, I'm being serious here!) Thanks in advance for the replies!
Love, ~*~KnOxViLLe~*~

If you want to be more toned so the proper form exercise 12 times in a row, take a 30sec brake and do this 3 more times. That's called doing 12reps and 3sets. If you have 1 pounds of muscle you will lose 50cals. a day because of it. If you wanted to be bulky and wieght more, you would want to do 2-6reps and 4sets. this will kill the mucle and create a bigger one If you go to www.teenbodybuilding.com they can help you out with alot of problems that you might encounter. you can also buy a cheap wieght set for 20$ it consits of a 2X2.5pounds/2X5pounds/2X10punds dumbell wieghts.

Iamjay is missing a key component in his advice. The high rep exercise is using a lower weight, while the low rep exercise is using a much higher weight. 3x12 is one way to do it, but I prefer the pyramid (1rep, rest, 2reps, rest, 3, rest, 4, rest, 5, rest, 6, rest, 5, rest, 4, rest, 3, rest, 2, rest, 1)

really? that's too many rests for me plus I wouldn't feel it after one rep.
I like sticking with 6-12 reps, depending on if I want that area of my body to be bigger or toned.

The rests are short, no more than 20-30 seconds tops. For me, it allows me to crank out more reps. I can't do 3x20 pushups, but I can do a pyramid to 8, which is four more reps than 3x20 (64 vs 60)
