I am 18, I'm 6'3'' and at the moment weigh about 280. I think the reason I really want to lose some weight is because I was up to nearly 290 and that is really close to 300. I have been playing DDR for the last 2.5 years occasionally, but just recently started playing daily. I just feel I could look and feel a whole lot better if I lost about 50 pounds, and I know my time frame is a little unreal. I want to be around 230-240 by about june-ish.
So far this past week I have drastically reduced my portion sizes and tried to eat somewhat healthier. Soon I am going off to college and know that I probably wont eat as good as I should so I am trying to break my bad habits.
Also being a band nerd *cough*, it sometimes gets hard to get out of the house and away from the practicing (I am gonna be a music major). And I also play EverQuest so...that sucks alot of time from me. I think that I am going to do some research and find some good recipes that I can make myself and that is semi-healthy and filling. I am not big on eating greens and stuff, but I think I need to suck it up and just go for it hehe. I know what I should be eating but I guess my tastes don't like it, and I need to acquire those good habits.
So...yeah. I guess I am going to start playing DDR more religiously and hitting the local arcade with my friend on the weekends like we used to do.

Hey welcome to the boards. I used to play EQ myself a couple years ago, I know it's very time consuming, but i'm sure you can find some time to squeeze some DDR in there. Just try to get in atleast 30 minutes 5 days a week or so. I don't know if you play EQ2 and how it compares to the original EQ, but with lots of classes soloing creates lots of downtime, you could even try to squeeze a song or two while you meditate, and on some raids there is a good bit of downtime, depending on your class you may be able to get some exercise in there too.
College does give you a good opportunity to eat unhealthily, but I find that it actually helps me eat better. If you make the right choices it is quite easy to do. My cafeteria has a salad bar, and lists the nutrition facts of many of the items.
I don't know if you can lose 40-50 pounds by hune, but you can definitely lose a good bit by then, stick with it and i'm sure you'll do great!

Actually what I have been doing lately is just totally ignoring EQ till I feel I have had a decent work out. Which is usually about an hour of pure DDR on standard songs. I am going to try to play DDR about 4-5 times a week for an hour-2 a day. Plus my friend wants me to go to the gym on some days so I can get a double work out...Or just some toning *shrug*

Ah, that is a much better plan, I wasnt sure how addicted you were to EQ, I know for some people it's hard to not live on that game, good to know you're not one of them. I'm sure you'll have no trouble losing weight if you stick with your plan!

trust me I am still addicted, its just i care more about getting in shape than playing it at the moment. But yeah, its just hard to break habits and and form new ones, thats why i am trying to start getting a work out daily so i can make it a habit. what was it...2-3 weeks to break a habit? *shrug*

At least you've got downtime in EQ to fit songs in. I play WoW as a hunter, and there's no downtime unless I want it. Takes a lot of self control to put workout first, especially with limited play time to fit both into.

Yeah, well one reason I have plenty of downtime, is my main character is a monk, and since the guild I was app'ing to denied me. I don't have much to do since usually people look at what guild you are in if you are LFG. But yeah, I think as of now my health comes first.
