I do workout mode for an hour everyday of the week. Would I see better results if i just did the regular game mode for an hour?

Whenever I do workout mode, I do it to at least 1000 calories. It takes me about... 26-29 songs roughly. I don't do under 8 footers, sans the occasional Whistle Song, when I do it.
Workout mode is good as long as you know a goal and you vie to reach it.

In addition I really don't see how workout mode can be any different. There is an option to change the steps for a more areobic movement, but with that turned off the steps should be exactly the same as in arcade mode.

i just recently shut off my workout mode.
i found now that i do it without, im sweating alot more and according to my workout log, i'm losing more calories in the time i work out in as compared to before.
although you could always just work out longer when u have workout mode on.
the problem i found with it, is that things aren't as challenging with workout mode on. i was able to clear most of the standard and heavy levels really quick. now i'm back to standard and i'm veeeery slowly starting to get A's & B's without workout mode.
i guess it's whatever suits you best.

I think the difference between workout mode and regular game play is with workout mode (at least with U2) the songs play continously, so your heart rate stays up. If you're playing game mode though you have to pause between songs to select a new song, so it takes up more time. With workout mode you get a more condensed workout. (I think that's right anyways) I prefer game mode though, while I like the calorie counter on workout mode I find it more challenging when I get a score. I'm a perfectionist

Hehe . . . it is nice to get an instantaneous bit of feedback about how you did on a song . . . I like workout mode on UM2 b/c of the continuous song selection, I feel like I'm getting a more intense workout that way.
The difference between workout steps and normal steps is that workout steps take out a lot of the chaotic steps . . . jumps and freezes that throw off the continuity of your motion. Thus, you are moving constantly, but it's easier than game mode. Normal steps are the same steps as in game mode . . . so if you want the same intensity of game mode but you don't want to be told that you failed something . . . go into workout mode and turn on the normal steps (not easy or workout steps).
I think I have that right. I think it also depends on the game you're playing as well. I know for the Xbox games, workout mode in Ultramix defaults to easy steps, and you have to change it to workout or normal steps if you want something harder. In Ultramix 2, workout mode defaults to normal steps, so you have to change to easy or workout if you want something easier. DDRMax was similar to Ultramix, in that it defaults to easy and you have to change it to workout or normal steps. I can't say about Max2 or Extreme b/c I haven't played them, and I have no idea how Stepmania or DWI works.

I think it depends mostly on whether you have workout steps on or off.
I spent a long time with workout steps on, just to get my body used to moving and having my heart rate up. After so long, though, songs get too easy with workout steps on.
You can have workout mode and workout/little steps off. At that point, there really doesn't seem to be a lot of difference.
I think the point should be to challenge yourself to keep moving, without either tiring yourself out in five minutes straining yourself, or both. Set an amount of time you'd like to play for, and find the most challenging combination of options for your ability that don't tire your out in less than that amount of time.

right now, i'm playing endless mode on Light, and it gives me a big workout. i fail alot of the 5 footers but its alot better than waiting for the next song.
