This is great, i bought a pad 3 days ago (mad catz) and ive heard so many bad things baout mad catz i returned it and they actually took it =D. (suppossed to not accept anything opened). So now i gotta buy a pad, i'm only have enough money to buy a 20-maybe 30 pad. This pad would be for learning light and getting started in standard. After that i'd probably get the red octane 50 dollar pad (what do you guys think about that one?) Also should i get extreme or max2? The two big things pulling me to each of them is extreme comes in a bundle with a pad so i dont have to buy it seperately and max2 gives that option that lets you turn off the corner button because my feet are huuuge(size 13) so i hit the corner buttons when i step. ok thanks guys, plenty to think about :-D.

yeah, I have the same big feet problem. can't stand in the middle without stepping on the up or down arrow. So anywho, I'm a beginner as well. I got my pad off of Ebay for 20 bucks, well more like 22 bucks, plus shipping which can vary from seller to seller. I got a hard foam pad and so far it's done pretty good.

what do you guys think of those shop now or whatever that place is pads? Also what stores offer waranteis on pads? I was thinking of getting the shop now 50 dollar pad and then once that broke get an ignition 2.0. Right now i am leaning torwards max2 and the shopnow or whatever one. Please help me with the following things i'll make a summary.
-How is the shop now or whatever 50 dollar pad compared to the ignition 2.0? (How long it lasts on light-standard and maybe heavy in a long time from now) IM A BEGINNER, JUST TO GET OUT OF THE AIR
-Should i get extreme bundle or Max2 with a seperate pad?
-I'm really broke right now so to get max2 and that 50 dollar pad at shopnow woudl be almost impossible to get during march. Maybe thats why i keep going back to the extreme bundle.
- What stores offer warranties on dance pads?
Thanks a ton, maybe this can help me get a ton off... Wow, that was one bad joke. It woudl be helpful if you guys wanted to AIM me : LMFMike3

the only thing that is stopping me from gettin that pad is that im worried that it'll break too soon, if i spend 50 dollars on it now there si definitley no chance i will have money for the ignition so i'lll only have this pad till christmas.

I'll plug the pads at www.levelsix.com. I finally am starting to have some mat surface breakage issues after having mine for two years. Nothing some duct tape can't fix though.

if you cant afford an ignition, or Metal pad, you can mod a 3rd party pad to do the same thing, after abrannan told me how to mod it, i looked for specific instructions. i found them at ddrfreak.com, in a very obscure place. www.ddrfreak.com/library/contributor-article.php?postID=7890244Might not look to pretty or fancy but its a great bargain if youre short on cash! anyway, hope that helps!

Ok i've decided to mod my pad till i can afford an red octane ignition 2.0. But i was wondering about hwo to do it, i dont have a staple gun and have no way of getting one. Could i use some reall strong tape and maybe some tiny screws to keep the plastic down? Also how much would it cost for all the materials and could i get it all from home depot? Also, what pad do you reccomend buying to mod?

im thinking that any 3rd party pad should work, a pad without a hard foam insert should work fine. screws would work, im sure, and yes, all of these things you can get at home depot. its a great mod to do, if you cant afford a Metal Pad. good luck i hope it works! (btw i have the same exact pad thats in the picture)

did you use a staple gun to make yours? Does the pad have to be new to mod? if so the one i got this morning in the extreme bundle is out of the question :-D. i could always wait for this one to break and geta 3rd party and mod it.

the pad doesnt have to be new, i'm sure.
and i havnt tried this myself, i'm waiting to save up some $$$ for the suppliies. it does look like a logical solution to make your pad last alot longer.

If you don't have access to a staple gun, I know a few people who have used duct tape and it seems to have worked for them.
One suggestion, put something like cardboard under the buttons between the pad and the board, this will let you feel where you are on the pad when you're dancing incase you start to drift. My friend has a moded pad but it drives me insane because I am always getting off the buttons and have no way of finding where I am without looking down all the time.
