They must put something in it. I haven't met one person (prove me wrong so I stop being suspicious!) who is "addicted" to a non "Dew" pepsi product, yet I have met more diet coke and coke addicts than I can count or even remember. But even if artificial sweeteners don't cause anything bad to happen (lets avoid that argument PLEASE - any 2 nutritionists/drs could tell you different things), its not water, and it is Our (the addicts) little crutch when dieting... I'm down to 3 a day most weekdays, I go a little nuts on the weekend sometimes, but I drink min 40 oz plain water daily. How about all of you other addicts ?

It's about all I drink at work. If I'm feeling guilty about the way I've eaten, I might have one glass of water, but usually i crave the flavor so I'll fill up a cup w/ Diet Coke. However, I don't buy it regularly, and try not to keep any soda in the house, thus preventing myself from consuming it needlessly. I used to be a Coke addict (the drink) but I stopped because of the empty calories. Working in a resturant, however, I have a free limitless supply of it at my beck and call. I used to hate the way Diet Coke tasted, but now I love it. It does have sodium, but at least no useless calories. UJKitten

I drink diet coke, diet sprite and diet sierra mist if/when I drink soda... Although I prefer to just drink juice most of the time.

I used to hate the way Diet Coke tasted, but now I love it. Same here... I used to be a livid coke finatic, but now I never drink it. Once it clicks in how much sugar is in regular soft drinks... well... I cut it cold turkey. The only regular pop I drink now is ginger ale. At work I drink bottled water, diet coke or light lemonade. Go aspertane

I dunno...I went from Mountain Dew 2-3 a day....to nothing but water....it kinda helps thought that I'm lazy...and didn't want to go to the store to buy any more at that point in time....and my want for it went away....sometimes I do stop by the 7/11 though and pick up a Mountain Dew Slurpee....

gotta love that diet coke. 0 calories sounds pretty good, but it's still not that good for you. If you want to caffeine buzz, try some Water Joe, it's just water and caffeine.

Arguments about aspartame aside, I like the taste and the sodium isn't too bad. For me, when dieting, if I can't have taste I quickly lose the battle and give up.
More power to you for being able to switch to just caffeinated water (bleh, not for me).
Caffeine, although it has its share of problems, is lately the health-media's darling, so I figure its mostly good for me... mostly.
