First off, take a nice deep breath, get yourself a glass of water, and relax. Then settle in, and read the threads here. Go past the first page, past the second, even. All of your questions have been asked, and there have been extensive discussions on them. Read them a few times, and come back to ask any calrifing questions. Like Home Depot says, "you can do it, we can help".

I found this today: www.fitnessmagazine.comGo to their Fitness & Health section and scroll down for fitness calculators. There are calculators to help you find your BMI and the number of calories you need to maintain your current weight. You can take 500-800 calories off of that number to find out how many calories you can consume in order to lose weight. That is what it says anyway. I am just not entirely sure yet about the accuracy. Maybe abrannan can check it out? It seems a little odd to me that I can consume 2800 calories a day and not gain weight! Either way, it will get you thinking in the right direction. And, of course, read every bit of information you can on this forum. I think you can use the search function to search for different topics. Like maybe you can try "low calorie food". Also, make sure you ready throught the KCAL and CALORIES topic... there is a lot of good, related info in there.

Just about everyone on this board has a different idea of what to eat to be healthier. Good advice all around is to get your 64 ounces of water a day. Reducing or removing soda from your diet is an easy way to drop many empty calories. Eating more naturally - fresh fruits and veggies - is a good idea on an astounding number of levels.
Some will say Atkins works. Some say the Weight Watchers program is where it's at. Others still say just to count calories and fats. There's a good overall feeling on this forum that what works and is healthy for each person is the way to go. Finding a way to diet that you can also stick to - mostly meaning healthy foods that you enjoy - is a great place to start.
So, read around, ask questions, and feel your way through it. Hopefully it will help you find something you actually even like eating and will stick with.
