Hello. I am waiting for my DDR dance mat to arrive, but I wanted to sort out an exercise routine to make sure I start losing a good amount of weight safely.
I weigh around 195 pounds and would like to lose a lot of that.
Can anyone give me a good idea on how much to lose weekly/daily and how to make that. Eg how many hours of Play (I have UK version of DDR called Dance Megamix for the PS2).
Thank you in advance, Lauren

If you work out for an hour the amount of calories you lose will be different than if I work out for an hour. Or even if another 195 girl works out for an hour.
So I couldn't give you an exact amount
But 30-60 minutes a day works pretty well

Hey I'm right around the same weight as you, with about the same goal. There's other factors to take into consideration about how you should be losing weight. Like, how tall are you? What's your ideal body weight, medically speaking? How much other exercise do you do in a day? How much are you eating, and what kinds of foods? From what i've read on this site, it seems like a safe bet is about two pounds a week. Slow and steady weight loss is ultimately safer and better for you than losing a whole bunch right away. I'm doing about an hour a day of exercise, watching what i eat pretty carefully, and this seems to be working pretty well. I don't have a scale handy to tell you how much exactly i've lost, but i know that my moods have been better and i have more energy than before i started playing DDR. These are as important to me as actually losing weight. Good luck! UJKitten

Two pounds a week equals a net loss of 7000 calories, which means eating 500 less a day (x7 = 3500 a week) and losing 500 more a day (" ")

i lose about 2-5 lbs a week and i feel great but i was very active before i gained weight so im losing very fast beacuse im very motivated and i am eating really good and no soda! but just start working out and get a feel for your body are you sweating alot are you feeling sore things like that will help you determine how hard and long you want to work out everyday

We're the same height too. Some of the websites i've been to put our ideal weight somewhere between 115 and 137 lbs. So if your ticker is what you want to lose, you're headed in the right direction! But remember to take it veeeery slow - shoot for 2 lbs a week or so and don't get discouraged if you hit a plateau and stop losing for a while. It happens to everyone! And also, remember to have fun. Something you start to benefit yourself should be fun as well as good for you, that way you're most likely to stick with it. The short answer to your question is yes, kcal and cal are about the same thing. Check out the thread at the top of this forum topic . . . it will answer your question better than i can. Good luck, and if you need help, you know where to find me! UJKitten
