hi everyone,
i just got myself ddr for christmas and i've been doing that since then for exercise. i've been steadily gaining some, but not a lot of weight, since i was in my mid teens. it got really bad when i ballooned from 120 to 140 in only a few months, and it's gotten really apparents over only about a 3 month period. i got really worried and decided i'm going to take action before it's too late.
sooo here i am, this lazy girl who loves to eat.
anyway, to the point. i'm new to eating healthy (sad but true), i'm so confused by it all. i read soemwhere to eat healthy meals about every 5 hours. funny thing is, since i started exercising i have more energy and get hungry aout every 5 hours. only, i have a question maybe somne of you can help me with. is it okay to skip food or a snack if i'm hungry to lose weight? not staving myself, but i'm afraid if i give in and eat i'd be going over my daily amount of calories needed for weight loss. but then again, obviously if my tummy is growling my body needs food, right? or is it just used to eating normally, and not rstricting some calories to lose weight?
this may seem so stupid to ask, but i'm used to eating big unhealthy meals or snacks whenever i have nothing better to do. i'm hardly even used to the tummy grumbling feeling thats so normal to human beings. i want to do everything right this time!
so anyway, thanks for reading <3

Hi Fallonmarie and Welcome to Getupmove. You will find some great support here. First off, I don't think you're a "lazy Girl", you just fell into routine like most people do.. It's okay because you caught yourself before it got extremely out of control.. I wouldn't recommend skipping Meals in the name of weight loss.. Take it from me, I used to go days without eating and even though I lost weight, I ended up gaining it back PLUS more. It's discouraging and unhealthy. I think having DDR as an exercise step is great.. Keep up the good work and you will be glad you did. You might want to try these sites. They can help you with recipes and give you the dish on Fad Diets. www.healthyweightforum.org/& www.dietbites.com/& www.fitday.com

Don't skip meals. When you skip meals your blood sugar will drop, which causes all sorts of fun reactions in your body. The body is built for survival in the wild, where food is sometimes scarce. When food is scarce, your body will work to retain as much of a reserve of calories as it can. That reserve is fat. You're better off eating fewer calories at your meals and adding a small 100-200 calorie snack in between meals. That way you've got a nice stady flow of calories which keeps your blood sugar levels steady.

hmm but when i posted last night i had the problem of hunger at 2 am. finally at 3 i couldnt stand it and i made myself some white rice. i read somewhere that hunger is natural and learn to deal with a little bit of hunger, and i read somewhere else to eat something light when hunger strikes. idk what to think Fallonmarie, I'm sorry to hear that you went through that lastnight.. I also went through that at around the same time too. Instead of going for the Ice Cream, I went for the carrots which I thought was a better choice because I didn't feel guilty afterwards. I do believe that you should eat something light like a fruit or a veggie at night when hunger strikes. The rice that you ate, was it regular white rice or Brown Rice and how much did you eat? half Cup, full cup or more? You can look up information on Rice here www.thinthin.com/CalorieIndexStarch.html& here www.carb-counter.org/cereal/search/Rice/2000Have you tried talking to a nutritionist about things that would be healthy for those midnight snack binges? I think you should. They can give you a lot more Valid insights that the members can not give.. Good luck hun and don't be so hard on yourself, things like this happens.
