Yeep! Sorry, my browser hiccupped and sent it befor I was done As I was saying... I just joined the forum, and I can't seem to find anything on this (but I might just be completely blind). Does everyone who's had any effect from playing DDR play on heavy? Or is DDR just as effective at weight loss for people who are standard/light players? I play mostly standard with the occasional light song (and, on konamix, about half trick and half basic). Thanks!

I wouldn't say just as effective, but it can still be effective. It's all a matter of sweat. I play mostly on Standard, myself. I feel more of an effect on Heavy, but I can still get a good workout in on Standard.
I think you'll find that as your cardio and skill improve, you'll have a harder time challenging yourself on Standard/Light and you'll need heavy songs to get your heart going.

I use a heart rate monitor to make sure that I'm getting a good workout. If it's not in the range that I need it to be, I start playing harder songs. If it's too high, I take the difficulty down. I play entirely on Light right now and use the foot ratings to gauge the difficulty.

I only play on Heavy. Standard for fun/freestyle, and light mode if I'm just way way too tired after trying like Legend of Max on Heavy. But yea, Heavy gets insane workout, Standard gets a good one (theres a lot of fast, hard Standard songs) and even some light songs will give you an aight workout. The main thing is to keep it fun though. If it becomes boring, it'll seem like normal excercise.

thanks everyone! i've started to play some heavy now... i figured i'd just suck it up and keep trying until i can pass them. I've set the game to play until end of song, and I'm also playing some of the heavy songs slowed down in training mode to get the feel of them. so now an average play goes like this: i play a few light/standard songs to warm up. i play a few heavy songs in training mode slowed down a little (at 3 or 4 on the 1-5 scale) then i play the heavy songs on normal for a while (do i pass them? um... occasionally... ) and then i play light/standard some more just to cool down. sound like a good plan, or should i switch that around? i usually try to play for an hour, but it's at least half an hour every day. thanks again!

Seems good, as long as you don't let yourself get too discouraged by not passing songs. But it gives you a good warm up, learning, challenge, and application/cooldown sections to your workout. As long as it's fun for you, and you're building up a good sweat, then it's a good workout.

I play like this I pick out 10 songs to do on light, standered and heavy. That way I get a great workout and I can improve my DDR songs at the same time.
