This time of year can be particularly daunting when it comes to goals. It's hard enough to wait for weight loss changes the rest of the year, but for the past two weeks (if you're like me) you've been bombarded with large meals, parties, sweets and other temptations. You want to feel like you're getting a great benefit from resisting all of that, but you just don't see it.
Watching your own weight loss is a lot like watching grass grow. Because you're there the whole time, you don't notice the changes. I've lost over 40 lbs in the last 18 months, but my body image is the same. Without a photo of what I used to look like, I have a hard time seeing the changes that have occurred. Unfortunately, even at the best, your weight loss will only average about 1-2lbs per week. From 235, that's less than a .5% change week to week. It's hard to see that from the inside. Keep the faith and stick with it. One day, you'll start to notice that you've got to pull your pants up a lot, or that you feel like you've got more energy than you used to. You *will* have one of those "ah-ha!" moments, when you do see the changes that have been happening. Unfortunately, I can't tell you when that will be. Stick with it, set a lot of attainable goals. Not ones that are tied to the scale, ones that are tied to your behavior, like eating healthy x meals this week, or working out for a total of x minutes, or passing a certain song on DDR, etc. Set yourself up to succeed, you can't control how fast the weight comes off beyond a certain point, so you've got to find things that you do have control over. Set and complete those goals, and the weight will take care of itself.

Well, that's the great thing about New Year's.
New year. New person. New goals.
Hizzah!

Ganbatte ne... Make your goal another level of hardness on ddr each week or something, and don't think about the weight for a while. I ate like a pig over the holidays and probably lost some progress and I was very discouraged, but now that my ddr is up and running again, I'm feeling better. You'll start feeling better again too, I know it! Just relax

The thing that always gets me motivated again is looking at success stories. Prevention magazine has a lot of inspiring things to read. www.prevention.com/Weight Watcher's website has a lot of before and after stories with pictures to see. I find them inspiring, too. www.weightwatchers.com/Fill your mind with positive things and your goals will seem more doable.
