Hello everyone, This site is the reason I got DDR. I was trying Tae*Bo, and getting outside to walk the dog on a regular basis, and besides time constraints, motivation is my biggest obstacle. Well time constraints I have conquered, I exercise at night when my wife and son are sleeping. But sometimes doing Tae*Bo isn't appealing, I just want to login to EQOA! I am gaining self discipline, but with DDR, I will have more fun while exercising.
I plan to play at least 5 nights a week. My goal is to do 4.8km(3 miles of jogging) each session. I decided long ago that no extreme diet changes are going to happen. It is too hard in a house where your wife can eat a box of cookies and cups of soda and not lose her figure! I have reduced my portions a bit, eliminated 95% of the soda I drink, and added about 100oz of water a day, sometimes more. I do still indulge in goodies, and I will occasionally eat a little more than I should, but dam pizza is good! Currently my weight is at 235lb, and maintaing. I'm looking to drop 50lbs.
I've outlined my goals, and lifestyle for ya, I am curious what more experienced members have to say, and advice they have to give.
I'm here to stay, too bad the lbs aren't!

Hi there, I work for a webbased weight loss site..to lose weight we say eat real food (ie avoid processed stuff) eat less and move.
I think you have the right idea with making small changes.
A good free site is americaonthemove.org . I do DDR and log it there.
Also good books are thefatfallacy, stepdiet and change one.

Thanks for the info Orangina.
After a week and a half I've weighed in as low as 230, but not over 235.
I know daily weighing isn't an accuarte gauge, but it's hard not to want to see lower numbers.
I'm also adding in a few cruches and push up with my routine, usually 1/2 to 3/4 of the way thru. Only like 10 or 15 of each.

I would try adding fruits and vegetables to your diet. They tend to fill you up and help you stay away from other foods. Plus, you need all those vitamins and fiber that they give you.
Shoot for 5 servings of fruits and veggies a day. A serving is a half cup.

Good tip!
I have added the veggies.
I try and munch about 1/4 to 1/2 pound a day, in lieu of sweets.
Like I said before, I won't cut them out all the way, we simply don't live here on earth long enough to not enjoy all the fine foods we have around us, but moderation is the key.
I have DDR MAX. I just moved up to the Workout Setting from Beginner setting...WOW, what a difference.
Same 30-35 minute workout nets me about 450-500 calories burned. I know it's not 100% accuaret and I'm sure their distance calculator isn't 100% either but it muct be decent right?
I'm shooting for the 400-500 caloires and 2-3 miles jogged.
Here's to me becoming a loser!

I'd aim more for the 30-45 minute workout rather than worry about calories burned. You'll know if you're working hard enough, and if you are, the calories will take care of themselves. Great job making the little changes, by the way!

Yeah, I use the time as my goal in workout mode.
Usually 30-35 minutes. Then I typically play the regualr mode for at least one game....trying to unlock new songs and such.

tae bo rocks! I've decided to try and alternate between ddr and tae bo, because ddr gets really really repetitive after a while.

As an update I am back to square one.
I had dropped roughly 5 pounds, and after 2 weeks of crazy hours at work(making no time for exercising) and the passing of Turkey Day, I am back to the beginning.
So starting tonight I will hop back on my pad and get moving again.
I think I may intersperse Tae*Bo with DDR. Actually I mix the 2 when I can, here's how: Anyone that has done Tae*Bo knows it involves punching an kicking. So while I am doing DDR I try and punch in the direction of the steps I am taking. Sometimes it works well, sometimes it causes balance issues. But when I am able to incorporate it, the work out seems just a touch tougher.
Also as a motivator, I am looking at my weight loss as a game. See how much more energy I can get and how much weight I can drop. 50 lbs gone by May is my goal. Wish me luck.
