Hello everyone,
I'm new here. Just wanted to let everyone know a bit about me.
I'm a 20 year old graphics artist. I'm in my second year of college and I started working on a online game in April 2003. Well I slacked on my health really badly and gained about 40 pounds and well I ended up going to the hospital because my legs couldn't handle the sudden gain in weight and I now have painful pitting edema in my legs. I'm ashamed that I did this to myself and I want to do something about it.
I went to the doctor and he said I could get down to like 135-140 pounds but it was only necessary that I get to 150 and that I avoid salt like the plague. I'm 188-190 right now.
I've already been cutting the bad foods out of my diet and my boyfriend bought DDR for me a month or so ago figuring it would be easy for me to fit into my schedule since I can't leave home much. I work 12-13 hours daily though I've had to cut back because I can't have my legs hanging too much.
I have to watch my sodium intake so for those that read this please keep that in mind if you suggest foods for me to eat. I'll understand if you don't remember but if you do I thank you.
I do DDR for about 20 mins on light mode every other day. Thats about all I can handle yet. My legs get pretty sore fast. I'm slowly moving up though. I find walking is a bit easier for me now.
I also use an exercise ball at the computer to strengthen my abdominal muscles yes it does work, you have to constantly keep your balance and if you don't maintain good posture your tailbone will hurt badly.I'd recommend one to anyone who uses the computer a lot.It also helps my swelling some.
If anyone has any suggestions for me they are appreciated. I really have to do something before its too late. I can't even wear shoes for long periods of time because my feet swell in them(Not pregnant for sure, this started last march.)
This might be a weird question but is it ok to do "sets" of DDR through out the day without losing its effectiveness? I can't do 45 minutes all at once.
