At your weight (285, right? Sorry, there's a lot of new people here these days, and I'm having trouble keeping everyone straight) you may not be able to avoid it. Dropping those foods from your diet may be enough to get you started on your weight loss. Just do that for a while and see how things are going. Remember, you didn't put it all on in one year, so you won't be able to take it off too fast either. Patience is the name of the game.

Small changes added over time will create weight loss that will stay off.
I recommend adding rather than taking away. Add five fruits and veggies to your diet and two servings of dairy every day. Don't worry about taking away pizza, sugar, pop and all that. Just add the healthy food and you won't be as hungry for the unhealthy food.
Don't worry about the skin. If you have any excess skin, it will eventually tighten up. It takes a long time, but it does snap back. Just be patient with yourself.

What do ou mean when you say adding? So that means I can still drink pop and eat chips? "Quote Laura: Don't worry about taking away pizza, sugar, pop and all that." So I would be hungry for the unhealthy first rather than healthy?

So I would be hungry for the unhealthy first rather than healthy? Think, replacing, rather then adding. The theory is that by making sure you get 5 Fruits and Veggie and 2 dairy servings each day, you'll have less room for the unhealthy food.

Abrannan is right on.
Concentrating on the food that you are adding to your life is more positive than obsessing over what you are going to take out of your life.
I make sure I eat my five fruits and veggies first, then if the pizza comes my way, maybe I will only eat one piece instead of half the pizza.

Omg, I just weighed myself and I'm at 279. Omg I gotta keep going! I drunk some of this tea, and its called "Get Regular" and it gets your intestines unstuffed, so you can get a regular flow ^_^. That was my problem why I wast losing anything on my last "eat healthy" thing.
