Well since I pretty much tossed out my old boring workout tape when I got DDR, I haven't been getting any work done on my arms. I feel good and everything, but I'm not really getting any noticeable results, so I was thinking maybe I should step up the intensity a bit.
Does anyone do DDR with weights on? I was thinking of the kind you strap around your wrists since I know I'll probably be carted to the ER with my foot snapped in half if I attempted to not be a klutz and use the barbel kind.
I dunno, just an idea I had.

There are dumbells designed for use in aerobic activity. They weight less than 5 lbs, and have a strap that runs across the back of your hand, making them easier to hold. Those might be good for use with DDR. Or, if you're looking for a comparable upper body workout, I recommend EyeToy: Groove for PS2, or Samba de Amigo for Dreamcast.

I have two sets of official Sega maracas for Samba de Amigo. I LOVE that game. It's got more flair than DDR, but not the song selection. The maracas aren't accurate enough to get GREAT at the home version, unfortunately. But it's a ton of fun anyway.

I use ankle weights but haven't gone to write weights yet. They're these stap-on weight things... quite cool.

yeah i also have those ankle weights too. I think it's 2 pounds per strap. It's just that it's uncomfortable and harder to move your feet with the beats so it takes the fun out. if u wanna work out your arms I suggest those 2 pound straps instead of wearing it during ddr wear them around the house and what not. make dinner using them . I'm a guy so it's not a problem to wear them but if 2 pounds is to heavy to wear all day (plus u look like a tool) then start wieghtlifting before your DDR workout or after. I do that once and awhile.

I used to use a pair of 2.5 pound wrist weights during my workouts, but as I started playing faster songs, I found that moving my arms at the same time in any kind of strenuous fashion was interfering with my ability to play.
They work well during 'break' songs, though, when I choose something slower in order to regroup.
