Hey guys my name is BJ and im not that new to ddr (pretty consistent in heavy mode) but i am new to a diet. I am about 350 pounds but have the energy of a kid. My weight hasnt limited my activity at all, but i need serious help in developing a right diet. Now the hardest thing for me is that i am a picky eater. Some things i like to eat is chicken, macaroni and cheese, gatorade, propel fitness water. Please help i dont have a vast list of things i like but im at the point where i dont care as much what it is as long it is healthy, now the thing that is saving my life from permanent and life threatning obesity is that i dont eat beef or pork. So guy if you can help me pick a healthy diet that would be awesome.
**Wish me luck** BJ

I can tell you that your most definitey see an improvement if you manage to stay away from the macaroni and cheese. Also, Gatorade is unnessesary unless you are already dehydrated and "fitness waters" are pretty much a fad. Water is still the best and smartest thing to drink, and be sure to drink enough of it over the course of a day. Skinless chicken (not fried) is good. The protein in it is good for buiding muscle (if you're working out) and its fairly lean. Fish (not fried) is also another good option. There are vitamins and antioxidents you can't get from chicken in there. Remember, everything in moderation.

Two suggestions for you:
1) Do a google search for "The Hacker's Diet" and read it. There's a lot of good information in there about how the body works when it comes to calories
2) In addition to DDR, you'll probably want to do a little weight training. Since you've got good energy levels, adding a little muscle will help burn more calories every day.

Like something i can do a couple times everyday. And also where can i find a description on reading food labels, i am so retarded i still dont know how to read them so i need serious help on reading those.

Food Labels, Some General tips:
#1 most important: Look at the serving suggestion and how many servings are contained in the package. For example, most drinks that come in anything larger than a 12 oz can give nutrition info for an 8 oz serving. Well, there's 2.5 servings in a 20 oz bottle, so multiply everything in the nutrition info by 2.5, and that's what you're drinking.
- Key things to look at. 1. Calories (Remember what was said in the The Hacker's Diet, it's all about calories) 2. When looking at fat, Monounstaruated fat is good, saturated fat is bad. Yes, Olive oil is 120 calories of fat per tablespoon, but it's all unsaturated fat. 3. When looking at carbs, sugars are bad, fiber is good. 4. Protein is good, but not when it comes with a lot of cholesterol.
As far as diet pills, stay away from them. Remember 4 years ago, when everybody thought Ephedra was safe and all of the diet pills had ephedra. Now the FDA has banned Ephedra. Remember 10 years ago when everybody was in love with Phen-Fen. Banned. Remember 30 years ago when amphetamines were all the rage. Banned. Diet pills do not work against the basic, fundamental issue for weight loss, the number of calories you consume.
As far as vitamins, just take a normal, 1-a-day type multivitamin, and you'll cover enough of your nutrient/vitamin needs.
