hi everyone, i just purchased ddr two days ago. ive seen people play it before and i thought i wouldnt like it, but a friend of mine tried it out and he was hooked, i too became hooked after i bought ddrmax2 and to dance pads. i am 6'0 and weigh about 142. this may sound kinda weird, but i want to shed about 5-10 pounds. mostly on my stomach. anyways, on my first day i played the game right after work and didnt stop for about 4 hours, but it was on light mode since it was my first time. yesterday i played alot without tracking the calories and then at night i played burning 400 calories. today i burned 500 calories on it. my question is by how much would i have to increase that inorder to burn 5-10 pounds in a short amount of time (about 2-3 weeks) any help would be greatly appreciated.

You don't want to shed the pounds, you should just get toned. Eat right and work on the stomach. Within a couple of months you should get some lines for a 6 pack

I agree that you don't really need to lose the weight. Also DDR isn't really usefull for losing weight in specific areas..or at least not the stomach. If you want abs, you'll need to do ab specific exercise.
DDR is good to tone your legs and burn calories to drop fat. But at your weight that's prob not a problem.

Agreeing with all of the advice here saying you don't actually want to lose weight, I'll answer your question anyway.
1 lb of fat = 3500 calories. 10 lbs = 35000 calories 3 weeks = 21 days 35000 calories / 21 days = 1666 calories/day.
Yeah... good luck.

alright guys, thanks. eating right is going to be a problem however, im foreign and in my country the mom cooks all day basically. i end up usually having like 6 meals. then she makes like a cake every 2 days, so its really difficult. if i tell her im not hungry or dont eat what she makes- ill feel bad because then she thinks i dont like her food. its really weird.

Seems to me like you are eating right for your body and activity level, or else you'd be a lot heavier (I'm basing this on how I looked at 5'6" and 142 lbs, I'm now 184). Multiple meals a day can actually be a good thing, as your body keeps a fairly level insulin level throughout the day.
You may not be able to drop the fat you want right away, but you can tone yourself. Keep playing DDR, get your heart rate up (Build up a good sweat, but not so much that you're dying for breath) for at least 30-45 minutes per day, more if you can. You'll do a few things:
1) You'll build good cardiovascular fitness and endurance, always a good thing.
2) You'll build muscle in your legs. Each pound of muscle burns 50 calories per day. Very good thing.
3) You'll burn a good number of calories that can help burn that last little bit of fat off of you.
I'd recommend copmlimenting your DDR workouts with some "trunk" exercises for your Abs and lower back. A strong trunk is essential for a lot of activities, and building those muscles will help them poke through the layer of fat you've got over them

Your trunk muscles are those in the core of your body, your abs, lower back, obliques, hip flexors, etc. They play a big role in any movement you do. Whenever somebody says that the power in a technique (Golf swing, baseball swing, martial arts punches and kicks, etc) comes "from the hips" it's your core muscles that are doing the work. They play a role in balance as well. Ab exercises are just one facet of trunk muscle exercises. Pilates is a whole system designed to work the core muscles and make them stronger and more flexible. If that's too girly for you, there are other systems out there that teach Pilates under a different name.
