My fiance just got a dance pad for me, and I am already sweating hard! I'm 5'9" and 290 and I have decided it's time to take off my weight and get healthy. I already work out and I have started a diet, cutting out sweets and junk food, as well as lowerig my daily calorie intake. My fiance thought this would be a fun addition to my daily activities, and he's right! My goal is to get down to 160 or 170 (I have always been a large woman, and it would be unrealistic to try for a fashionable "120" ) I have already lowered my weight 22 pounds, down from 312! Wohoo! With any luck I will continue to lose weight, and feel stronger and healthier every day.

Good luck! I just cut out soft drinks cold turkey and I am getting the worst headaches since I gave up coffee... any suggestions?

Thanks for the well-wishes.
As for your headachesl, there are two things going on. Withdrawls from sugar, and withdrawls from caffeine. The best thing you can do for the sugar is drink a ton of water and add an extra piece of bread to your diet for a few days. As for the caffeine, the only thing you can really do is wait it out, usually about a week for the headache to go away. And of course, if it gets too bad, take exedrine, which has small doses of caffeine in it, and will reduce your headache a bit.
Good luck!

I am officially addicted to DDR ;D
I only burn about 500 calories a day doing it, in addition to my 1.5 hours of other exercise everyday, but I am already seeing results! I lost 2 pounds, and my muscles are definately firming up.
This is great!

I do an hour of Tae Bo every day (it's dorky but it makes me sweat, so it can't be that bad) and half an hour of sit-ups, push-ups and general upper-body stuff. Of course, I am moving most of the day, because I am a "domestic engineer" (i.e. house-wife) and I run around cleaning, gardening, grocery shopping etc. all day ;D So I suppose that counts as exercise too!

Wohoo! Another 2 pounds!
Down to 286 from 312 originally! I feel great, I am exercising upwards of three hours a day, eating healthy and staying motivated. I promise not to post updates every few pounds, but I was too excited to keep it to myself ;D

Thanks for the reply. It has really helped to be able to post here and get support. Already this is a very sucessful diet/exercise plan for me, and I think that is due (in a large part) to the help I have gotten here. When I was 13-14 I went through a horrific period of anorexia. I ended up getting down to about 125 pounds which, for my frame, is excessively thin. I did damage to my liver, and made myself very ill. After getting together with my fiance I started eating reguarly, rather than fasting for days at a time. Then I ate a bit more than regularly... and it escalated from there. After gaining all my weight I was afraid to try to lose it again, for fear that I would fall into the old anorexic pattern, and end up even more unhealthy. It wasn't until I started my exercise and moderate diet plan, along with DDR and this lovely board ;D that I was able to feel safe and healthy enough to lose weight the right way. Anywho, enough about me. Point is, I appreciate all of the support, it means loads to me! Oh, and I'm down to 283 now :0) Wohoo!

Well, I ruined the diet part of my weight-loss efforts today, but I kept up with my exercise and I'll be back on the wagon tomorrow Wish me luck!
