me and my wife played this at a younger cousin's house and are hooked. We have the game (xbox) and two pads now and have been doing it for about 6 days in arcade mode for about an hour a day. she's 180 lbs and im 280 lbs. can you guys help me figure out how many kcals a day we should burn?
we did 500 each today; is regulation neccesarry in workout mode? (i burn a lot more that her due to weight and "happy feet" between arrows)
any help would be great.

If your weight was steady before you started DDR, and you don't start eating more, then 500kcal/day will help you lose about a pound per week. A Pound of fat is roughly 3500 Calories (kcal). If you can take in 500 fewer Calories, or burn 500 more Calories or any combination thereof, you'll drop 1 pound per week. That's 52 pounds in one year's time. Plus your body continues to run a little "hot" for a couple of hours after your workout, so you're probably burning a little more than the 500 that DDR shows.

yea.. 500 KCAL is a good amount for you to start with... personally I do about 600-800 daily but again that's just me personally.. your best bet is to monitor your intake as much as you can and go from there, and I think there is some website that gives you the amount of calories you need to maintain your weight somewhere to make it easier for you.

I'm 225 and do about 400-450 a day and have seen results. I haven't lost much in the numbers game, but i immediately saw results in how my clothes fit. I've been doing it everyday for about a 1.5 weeks and on and off for a month, and i'm starting to swim in my jeans. So i think you're fine at that amount. good luck!

hmmm I normally hit 250-280 per day...
500 gives me a goal to work towards.

Really, though, even better than watching the calories in workout mode is watching your heart rate and the time you DDR. If you can get your heart rate up to 70% of your maximum (.7 * (220-Age)) beats per minute and keep it there for 30-45 minutes, you'll be in good shape, no matter what the Calorie counter says.
