Hello Everyone, I got DDR Ultramix for my xbox last december and was playing it a few times a week up untill the last two and a half months where I have been playing an hour to an hour and a half each day (basically until I reach 650-700 calories). I do half on light step and half on standard, I have been integrating more and more standard songs in and hoping to get to heavy. I have about 15-20 pounds I would like to lose and I really enjoy doing DDR (although my soft pad can really iritate me sometimes when it gets munched up and the sensors dont read right). My only problem right now is that I don't seem to be losing any weight, in fact I think Im gaining. On top of my DDR I do about 100 sit-ups a day and walk 20 minutes to and 20 minutes from work each day, as far as my diet goes I probably dont eat as healthy as I should but I drink tons of water and try to eat balenced meals when I can eat (I usually only eat dinner though because I am always so busy) I hope to start seeing some loss instead of gain soon, anyone have any idea what I could be doing wrong??

Welcome and I have to agree with iamjay, you could very well be gaining weight...but the good kind... Lean Muscle.
Muscle weighs a heck of a lot more than fat...

Hi Toad,
When I first started trying to lose weight, even before I discovered DDR, I remember getting very frustrated because the weight just didn't seem to come off. In fact, I remember I gained small amounts at first. I kept at the diet and exercise plan and then one day the weight started to slowly come off. It could be that our bodies are just adjusting to the change. The fat slowly turns into muscle, and since muscle weighs more, we don't see the loss at first. But then once more and more fat disappears we start seeing a little bit of a difference.
Luckily for me I had a friend who kept me motivated when I felt disappointed. She kept insisting that one day the weight would start to go down. She was right. She said to just keep at it! Muscle weighs more than fat. Thank goodness I had her there for me or I would have been discouraged and would have given up.
Peace,
Stacey

I started DDR in mid-March and I haven't lost a pound yet. I have lost inches though. I noticed that my clothes are slowly getting looser and My boyfriend has noticed that I'm starting to tone up.

Don't you just LOVE the feel of loose jeans? (Another one of my favorites is that my bras are starting to feel loose, too!) ;D

It's awesome!! Almost all my pants have more room in the thighs and waist. My bra size never changes though, even when I weighed under 100 lbs I was still a 34C.

everybodys body is different so its not really fair to say a small girl with big boobs is out of proportion. I used to weigh 120 with D cups, now I am 150 with F cups and I am 5'10. Thank you everyone for your advice!! It's just a little depressing for the scale not to move and my pants to be getting tigher from muscle Well I should be getting to my DDRing for the day!

Honestly, at 5'10" do you really need to lose weight if you only weigh 150lbs? Especially if you have F cups, a lot of that weight might be in your breasts so you must be really thin already! I'm sure you have nothing to worry about!

Im just trying to get down a little bit, and tone up of course, I was always a steady 140 until I met my junkfood loving boyfriend I also play DDR because its fun, I like to try and stay in shape but hate gyms so I am happy I found something I enjoy. Im not super thin right now at my weight but I have always been a curvy girl, I have aquired a nice ponch of pudge on my belly though hehe.

Ok Ok. I came here for a little support, I previously stated that I enjoy doing DDR for fun & excersize and that I would like to drop some weight and get in better shape and hoped to talk to people who were like minded seeing as I dont know anyone else who does DDR for fun OR excersize. I'm not really interested in hearing 'you have nothing to worry about!' I was more just interested in having a bit of advice on how to maximize my weight loss using DDR. If this comment was out of line I will leave the community.

;D I don't know what the point of that is, but its all good! I was just skimming through this and noticed that your first entry you mentioned something about only eating dinner b/c of how busy you are. You have to eat more than just that, not just one basic meal. This is what its like for me. Breakfast: Bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios and 1/2 cup skim milk. You can do any cereal and milk, you just NEED to eat breakfast, that is definitely a must. Lunch: I go with sugar free Jello and a ham sandwich on wheat bread, can't go wrong with wheat! I will also either have a yogurt, fat free ice cream or even an oatmeal raisin cookie as well (gotta reward yourself for a job well done). Dinner: Eat whatever you would like, but only eat until your full do not go above and beyond, also try to avoid eating a couple hours before you go to bed. I'm usually in bed by like 1:00 A - 2:00 A, I usually don't eat big meals after 7:00 P. If I do get hungry, I will settle with a fruit or salad. If you wanna lose weight, you gotta eat right. Have those three meals a day, continue your exercising! Another thing, workout BEFORE you eat dinner. Because your metabolism is working full force, when you eat you will be burning off the food you eat...while getting full at the same time.

Oh I totally understand the importance of healthy square meals, and eatin breakfast lunch and dinner, and I try to as often as I can afford to/have time for, what can I say I like food and I LOVE to cook My only problem is that I work three jobs and have a lot of debt hehe so there is not always time or money to be stopping to eat all the time!....such is life hey?

I didn't see any weight loss and a gain really until I started playing on standard and heavy. I notice a lot of people say the same thing.
Also, if you are toning up and building muscle, yes it weighs more than fat but also, over time, the muscle burns the fat continuously and you don't even realize it.
Not that I follow this exactly but the most important meals are breakfast and lunch and yes, not eating 4-6 hours before bed is wise.
Not sure if this pertains to anything but women lose weight slower than men too because men are naturally more muscular so they burn it faster.

A lot of people I know personally try with weights and they are in a huge ammount of pain... I'm not just talking about muscle build up either I mean like... Big time pain... I would not recomend it unless you absolutly want to... Worst comes to worst talk to your doctor about it. Speaking of DDR... It's been a few since I played at home... Stupid II DX... Anyway! I must be off because I'm feeling fat today XD Good luck with everything
