How does everyone keep their motivation up without losing it? I have been working out for 4 weeks/5 days a week. But today I dont feel like doing it anymore it's to repetitive. Anything that keep your spirits up, Besides watching your tummy dissapear?

Motivation for me was taking a before picture. Look at it when you lose your motivation always makes me work harder as I hate the body I have.

DDR may seem a little repetative sometimes, just remember that it's no where near as repetative as jogging...keep motivated by knowing that if you keep at it you can acheive your goals and feel better about yourself. Losing weight and toning your body doesn't happen overnight.

What Do I do for motivation? Go to this forum!! man I felt like quitting so many times, I play Mon - Fri each day for 30 minutes, then Sat & Sun 2 times a day. Also, find someone who likes playing DDR too. They don't have to do it to lose weight but just for fun. I have a bunch of friends who play and its great. Me: "Man I got Era on heavy, top that!" Friend 1: "Yeah Max 300 Standard, what about that?" Friend 2: "Exotic Ethinic Heavy....times 3, shuffle, stealth" Me & Friend 1: "Wooooooooowwww......" I hear this almost everyday, Motivation and friendly competetion go hand in hand!!!!! Try it !!!

I have all of the above.
I have the most god-awful before picture (in a bikini so you can see all the chub), and I'm keeping the bikini for progress pictures later on. Maybe I'll post them someday if things go well.
I also compete heavily on the game--I don't think of it as exercise. My little sister doesn't have a job or summer school like me (plus she's thinner and got better rhythm naturally) so she does about twice as good as me at all the songs, so I have to kill myself just so I can keep up making D's on stuff she's getting A's and B's on, but we keep playing around the same rough level. We killed ourselves to unlock all of the features of DDRmax2, and now we're killing ourselves to get up to "standard" mode. I swear, the sadists who named the modes... And there's always Oni mode for us to aspire to, if ever our competition wans. *shudder*, Oni Mode gives me DD-Nightmares.
Also, I have a great boyfriend who's still been very sweet during all my weight gain, but I always remind myself on days I don't want to do it for myself that I can also do it for him so he'll have someone even shallow people can look at and say "D@mn!" because a guy who'd stay with me and rarely say a discouraging word as I packed on forty pounds is so good he deserves to see nice firm legs accompany him to the beach someday.

Oh, and there's also this forum to visit,
and my old clothes that were just too friggin' cool to throw away no matter how unlikely it seemed I'd ever wear them again...I have a pair of my favorite old shorts on the wall next to me, anxiously awaiting the day when they can be worn again. Them and that darned bikini.

Can you get some new dances? Try moving to a different level to challenge yourself? I've been getting kind of bored lately too and need to make it a challenge again.
I was kind of losing my motivation lately... it didn't seem like losing 25 pounds had made much of a difference in my life. Then yesterday I went to the playground with my son and suddenly I could play on all this stuff I hadn't been able to use before! It was so cool; I had the best time. And I'm all excited about losing weight again. :-)

The one thing that made my DDR experience less repititious was StepMania. Buy using StepMania for my PC, I was able to download hundreds of DDR songs... as well as original songs made by other users. A lot of these songs include popular top 40 songs. It's fun!
I now have a collection of 500+ songs on my computer.

I thought it was getting repetative too so I started biking and bought a Pilates DVD to do at home. I go on bike rides twice a week, do Pilates every other day, and do DDR when I don't feel like doing the other two...try to think of other active things you like to do and switch them around

Motivating factors? Boy, I could write a book, I have so many of them. Here's a bit of a list:
My personal self-esteem. I would like to stop being "the fat girl" and feel good about myself. I want to have a summer where I don't shy away from outside activities just because I don't want to be winded and hold everyone else back so that I can keep up. I want to wear a bathing suit and not look scary, because I miss swimming. I want to avoid the diabetes that runs in my family. I want to be able to be there for my kids, when I get around to having them, without ever having to say, "Sorry, Mommy's too tired to go play." I want to be trim and fit and attractive for my boyfriend, who loves me fat and all. I want to be able to cross my legs comfortably. I want to enjoy clothes shopping. (It's not very fun if nothing ever fits because you should be shopping plus sizes and don't want to admit it.) I want to make decisions based on what I want to do, not what I am physicially able to do. I want to show some of my larger family members and friends that it CAN BE DONE and so that they might become more healthy, too. Beautiful with a brain is an amazing combination. I've got half of it down, already; I want to get the other half, as well.
There are a lot more reasons, but these are the ones that come to mind. Some of them are selfish reasons, some of them aren't. It all comes down to... I'm darn tired of living like this and I just won't do it anymore. That's what keeps me motivated.
In regards to the repetition, several things help. I'm mildly competitive with my boyfriend, who also plays with me, also to lose weight. We're on close to the same skill level, so we're not discouraged by one doing amazingly better than the other. But I would also think mixing other exercises into the equation would help, as well. The exercise part of "diet and exercise" will never work if you get bored. You don't JUST have to play DDR. Get exercise in other ways that you can enjoy, as well.

My motivation comes purely from seeing the grades i get on the songs i play. I'm trying to lose weight, but my primary motivation comes from taking on a challanging song, and finishing it or getting a better grade on it. I'm not unhappy with my weight, even though i am overweight....i just hope the pounds come off as a side effect of playing.
Right now i'm a "high light/low standard" player usually taking songs in the 4-6 foot range and getting C's to A's, so while i'm better than when i started...theres plenty of room to improve. And once i get to harder levels, i'll get another pad and start learning doubles. By then Ultramix 2 will be out and i'll have a whole new slot of songs to work on. So basically i have lots to do in DDR.

I use fitday.com to keep track of weight, activities, and food eaten on a daily basis.
It keeps me motivated that when I bought some size 7 pants in December at the thrift store (for $1.45 cause they were too cute) I couldn't fit into them no matter how hard i tried. Now they fit with room to spare, and they're the only pair of pants I own that I don't need a belt with!
I also have really awful before pictures.
