I am trying to do at least 1 hour a night but some nights it just seams nearly impossible with my schedule and lack of energy. How much are you doing daily or weekly? I figure this is a good amount of time and by lowering my calorie intake it should show me some weight loss signs.

ok...so i have been reading all these books on sucessfull weight loss and what helps people stick to it...
and the biggest thing was the amount of time people schedual themselves to work out...
people who said they were going to work out an hour every day were the most likely to give up or skip a session... people who said 20 or 30 min were more likely to do it every day....and doing it every day is what makes it work and what makes it count!!
so... dont say an hour...play for 30 min... because believe me...that is enough...but if you FEEL like playing more you can..but if you dont...there is no reason to be disapointed in yourself because you DID play...and you did enough to make a difference!!

oh yea...
and i play 30 min every morning...
right now i am on a break from the cardio because south beach says to not push yourself too hard in the first 2 weeks while your body is adjusting...
so i am still alternating my nights with yoga or pilaties with a mini weight session....
and this is all at home folks... i am way too lazy to hit a gym!!

just started it yesterday...and so far... it feels really good...
i was the kinda person who just luved carbs....but could not process them... so when i was drinking those diet drinks with like 45 carbs (35 of wich were sugar) .. i would feel good for about a half hour...then i would be so tired i could pass out....they say that is a sigh of pre-diabeties (sp??)
so...not having all the carbs feels really good....not to say that i am not craving sh** like crazy....but...they say that will pass.....
i am trying to look at this more of a lifestyle change rather than a diet...because the food on here is REAL food.... nothing that you cant just pick up at costco or safeway....so...seems really normal...
and i just really want to be healthy...especially with getting married and the idea of having children...
i was a stoner for a long time....and i dont think there is anything wrong with that...the only bad thing that came with it tho was the food....
all that pizza and easy junk food...i became addicted to it...i luved it....i would eat and eat and eat...and that would have been OK if i was better at selecting foods that were good for me...rather than easy...but...this will be nice... i can tell
WOW>..long as* post...

I have done the South Beach. It is hard for the first few weeks but after 3 or 4 days it gets much easier. Not as hard as the Atkins though! Good luck with it, I unfortunately could not stay on it due to weakness but am choosing to just be more aware of what I eat and exercise/DDR more. Thanks for sharing!

I've only been doing this for a week, DDR at least an hour a day, sometimes two. It's not good discipline, or anything like that. The only reason I can do this is because I have a long history of being a video game junkie. I just love love love games. Any other exercise prior to this I wouldn't have done this much. Not in a million years. I don't think DDR is the key exercuse for everyone, just me because I love games so much. The key is just finding something you really truly enjoy so you look forward to it. Since becoming a mother I stopped allowing myself to play so many video games, (I could easily while away 3, 4, or more hours playing in one sitting), but DDR is my "permitted" video game addiction.
You can do what you want if you make it a priority and if it's appealing enough to do. Believe me, I KNOW what a lack of energy is like. I do think exercise, if you can get motivated to do it even if you just want to slump on the couch or take a nap, will actually result in *more* energy.

Although I am told I am a person who has plenty of energy it does give me more. If I don't feel like doing DDR I just say I will do 12 songs and then if I still don't feel like it I can stop. Of coarse I get in to it and end up doing 36 or more songs! DDR gives me more motivation

I always thought that it wasn't recommended to work out everyday? I thought that it was better for your body to go like, every other day?

That could be it. I tried DDRing everyday for a little while, but my knees couldn't take it. They ached for a week.

Yeah, my knees are pretty bad. I broke the growth plate in my left one when I was 11 and I've had problems with both of them ever since. I tried PT, but insurance made me drop out after about a month. It got rid of the tendonitis (spelling?), but that's about it.

I try to DDR every Tuesdays, Thrusdays, and the weekends. Why, you may ask? Well...I used to spend $20 on DDR EVERYDAY ( I cant play at home)! My arcade offers unlimited arcade games for $10 bucks Tues. & thurs., so thats when I play. Its unlimited DDR fun! Yay!! I usually play for about 2-4 hours. My legs are really sore right now...
