So I did get the game and everything, and played for over 2 hours. I'm a bit sore today, but of course want to play more.
For those of you who started from being in somewhat poor shape to lots of DDRing, did you just continue to play through any soreness you experienced, or did you take it easy to recuperate? In either case what was your experience? How long were you sore? When did your fitness level improve to the point where you could DDR for hours and not experience muscle aches the next day.
I'm only playing on "light" mode right now, but that is more than enough to get me sweaty and winded. My soreness isn't too bad, but I'm not sure if working through it would be a good thing or if it's going to put me in bad shape. I'm coming from a place where I wasn't completely sedentary, I walk 3 miles about 3 or 4 times a week but it's not very intense. Honestly I never found an activity in the past that I enjoyed enough to do even though I felt sore!
Weird thing is my *shoulders* are sore too! I'm not sure why.

Jennifer, 30 mins of light mode still is enough to get me a little winded, but I feel good now where as before I would have been ready to lay down afterwards. When i get sore from doing DDR I generally would take a day off to let myself get better instead of playing through it. The way I look at it doing DDR 3 or 4 days a week is alot better than before, when I was not doing any type of exercise

Jen,
Try stretching before you get on, so your body will be flexible, that should help ease th soreness.

On some days i will wake up and my feet will be in bad shape, so I rest them for a day (besides work). Don't push yourself, try to listen to what your body is telling you.

yea.. on days I dont play DDR I pay really good attention to what I eat. Cut out all soft drinks and candy and try and stay below 2,000 cal (but that's strictly a personal number)

Thanks for the feedback guys. I went ahead and played through the soreness. I couldn't help myself. I was only mildly sore anyways, and from what I've read, it's ok to work through soreness on cardio as long as it's mild - you're just supposed to wait on resistance training.
I swear this game is gonna be my salvation hehe.

yeah as your body adjusts to your gaming, the soreness will be less and less.. Though your determination for that AAA, will become an unrelentless beast. ;D

Heheh yeah the soreness is already gone after DDRing several times yesterday. Right now though, I have to settled for my determination for 'Ds' on Standard! I think I need a better pad though. On any song that has me jump alot the darn thing slides into a different position and I get all "off kilter" on the pad.

I'm with ya on that one Jennifer. I'm fighting to get above a "d" on standard myself.
