Hi, I'm a newbie here. In fact I don't even have DDR yet - but I'm going out today to buy everything I need to get started!
A little about me - I'm a 28 year old woman, weighing in at 170. Yikes. I've never been thin and fit, but pregnancy and childbirth really took it's toll on me, and now a year and a half after the birth of my daughter I'm still struggling.
I just played DDR yesterday for the first time at a friend's house. My excitement comes not only from how fun this game is, but because I'm a HUGE video game addict, and always have been. Doesn't matter what it is - tetris, RPGs, fighting games - you name it I've probaby been addicted to it at some point. Usually the only reason I stop playing games is because I have to force myself to stop myself from "wasting my time." The idea of playing a game for exercise is SO exciting to me. I can't believe I didn't think of this sooner!
Everyone has always said to lose weight you have to find an aerobic activity you really enjoy. For me, nothing I can do from home fit that bill. Even walking or biking, as soon as I'd get winded, I'd slow down without even realizing it. Not so when I tried DDR yesterday - I was too busy having fun and darnit, if I slowed down I'd lose the game!
Anyways I found this site and it looks great. Neat to see I'm not alone in this and to read about how people have been actual successes with this game to lose weight. I really have a good feeling about this - the fact that my enthusiasm is to play the game and not soley to lose weight makes me think this might be the thing that sticks!
