okay, so the 'net says that one needs to lose 3500 cal to shave off a pound.
logically, that would be 3.5 kcal, no?
ddr measures in kcal, and it isn't too hard to lose..say...242 kcal. uh...something seems off. do you need to lose 3500 KCAL? or cal? and also, if you take that you eat about 3000 cal per day, does that mean you need to burn off 6500 cals to lose a pound? in one day? that's doesn't sound right, but it doesn't make sense to me that it'll be possible over a span of few days (i mean, you consume a new set of 3000 cal everyday...so when do the cal you lost add up?)
gah! i'm so confused! help~~~

from what i have been told DDR does not count in Kcal but just plain old calories....
not sure what the K is for...but... it is just regular calories... so you would need to play for a long time to burn 3500....i burn about 450 in a half hour if i work REALLY REALLY hard... about 300 if i dont push too hard....

Actually, I think what we call calories ARE kilocalories. Calories are actually a very tiny unit of measurement... kilocalories are just more practical. So... 1 Calorie as we're used to = 1 kilocalorie.
Or so honors chemistry taught me last year. XD I could be wrong.

My husband is a chemistry geek and you're right. The American College of Sports Medicine says you should burn 1000 Kcal a week to lose weight, if that helps any.

This has all the fixings to make me confused, which I seem to be all the time. You are constantly burning calories when you do any kind of activity even shaking your leg while you're sitting in a chair. What I wish they would come out with, is a device that goes on your body and throughout the whole day, it counts your calories burned.. Oh yeah It also needs to be accurate lol

If I'm not mistaken (but don't quote me on this) in the US they do it this way: 1 cal = 1 cal 1 Kcal = 1 Cal Note the capitalization on Calorie. At least this is what I heard... might wanna check it out though.
