Hi, my name is Scott i am new to the board. Been playing DDR for about 3 months now. i am about 315 lbs and am now getting serious about loosing the weight. I am a standard player playing songs around 5 or 6 feet. I am a senior in high school and want to lose plenty of weight before i head out to college. I have always been over weight and hope that DDR will help me. If anyone has any tips on dieting and how much to play i am gladly open to any suggestions. Oh well thanks for reading and reply back. ;D

Hi Scott, Welcome to the club! I have some good dieting tips for you. Everything centers around the most basic rule: 3,500 calories = 1 pound. If your body needs 1,500 calories to survive (called BMR, or Basal Metabolic Rate), then calories you eat over that number contributes to excess fat. For example, if you eat 2,000 calories per day and your BMR is 1,500, then you are getting 500 extra calories per day. Over 7 days, that is an extra 3,500 calories, or you gain 1 pound per week. If your body needs 2,000 calories per day, and you eat 1,500 calories, then you burn 500 calories in stored fat and you will lose 3,500 calories per week, or 1 pound. To figure out your BMR, go here: health.discovery.com/tools/calculators/basal/basal.htmlWhen you play DDR, you burn calories, so that factors into the equation above. [Calorie Intake] - [Calories Used in DDR/Exercise] - [BMR] = [Gain/Loss] It's hard to count calories at first, but you'll get good at it real quick. Then losing weight is just simple math. Good luck!

Playing DDR everyday, and weightlifting every other day. 2,000 calories per day. and it looks like i have already dropped a little weight too. This is going to help with alot of my health problems in my family and its fun! YOU CAN't BEAT THAT COMBOINATION! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Scott that is great to hear! my hardest time is at night and cutting myself off from eating anything after 7:30 pm. Eating before bed isnt good so Ive been working on that. Ive stuck to my plan all week so far and Ive been playing DDR at LEAST 30 mins a night. It isnt much but I am getting better at the game too! keep us posted!

Great to hear you're losing weight. The only tips I can give is this. I was a pig out person. I cut down on it a bit and the sweets. The cutting down on sweets is actually a plus because now when I have it, it tastes better than I remembered. Between lowing the amount I take in by a just a bit and avoiding aways eating sweets combined with exercise from DDR, almost guarentees results. Be careful of how much you eat and of what and exercise, you'll be losing weight faster than you realize. Keep going! You can continue to lose weight! The most important thing is don't give up!
