i've been trying to do it at least twice a week for about 45 mins (we've been busy and fighting for time on the xbox is killing my husband!) but, i was going to start a routine of doing it in the mornings before work (when he isn't playing steel battalion but i was wonder, how long should i play, and how often? bare minimum for exercise results? chances are i'll play more in the evenings for fun, but i'd like to have a daily routine of playing set up. is it time oriented? or intensity? or heart rate? or calorie? just curious what you think! thanks for your help! really nice to have a resource like this! i've lost 25 doing south beach, but have that last 15 pounds to go that are impossible, so i'm going to keep eating healthy and dance away the weight!

well...just going from what doctors say... you need 30 min at least 4 days a week... and you want to pay attention to heart rate...too low and you are not burning anything...too high and you're burning muscle... i did a write up in the health section on the main page... www.getupmove.com ... check it out.. i have heart rate in there ..... and another good site for cutting calories and seeing what you need and what you burn even just sitting at work is www.3fatchicks.com .. i learned that i burn lke 1k just being up and about at work... so..check out the heath section of getupmove.com and 3fatchicks.com and i think you will be set!! good luck and welcome!!

i play between 30-60 mins and i try to play everyday
but its more like everyday except tuesday( i have class late)

These days I do at least 1-2 hours a day. Its just too fun to stop at 1. Hehe. I do about 1 hour with my girlfriend, then take a rest, and do a nother hour later at night at my own pace (and I can choose what songs I want then too =)

I start with 5th mix Lessons every morning. It takes about half and hour to get through all three sections, but it's a great warm up. Then I start doing just one footers, then go through and do all the two footers, then three, THEN I try the four foot songs. By this time I've been at it for two hours, and perspired (ladies don't sweat)(g) about a gallon. At my beginner level I think of it as jogging, because I can talk and breathe fairly easily.

The American College of Sports Medicine recommends burning 1000 calories a week through exercise to lose weight. I do just about every day (sometimes twice) and burn at least 200 calories per workout, so I figure I have that covered pretty well. (Though of course the calorie counts aren't super reliable.)
In general, I think doing more workouts it better than longer ones. It's hard to work it into my schedule (I have a toddler son) but it's really important to me.

I play for about 45-60 minutes every day! That's about 650-850 calories (according to the counter)... I play it almost all in heavy and aim for a high combo! I've lost 17 pounds in the last 2 months, since I've started playing almost everyday... I'm at 143 now...
I started playing the game for the sole purpose of having fun! I love to go to arcades and play with other people, and I also like it when I do better than them! XD
