I just bought a USB adapter for my DDR gamepad finally. Orriginally my mom bought me the pad for xmas, but w/o a game. Guess she thought I would have fun rolling around on a pad doing nothing. Anywhose, I got a USB adapter from the local game shop. I tested it out on FFXI and it worked amazingly aside from no vibration. When I tried it on stepmania however, all went terrible. I found out that I cannot use Up and Down at the same time, nor Left and Right at the same time. I would tell you my adapters name, but it has none, at the packaging was just a plastic bag. It looks like the end of a PS2 controller with 1" of cable, then a USB port on the end. No special boxes or anything between. I tried some random drivers for other adapters, and it did give me sone interesting results. Now I can see a PS2 controller when I try to check it out in the control panel. Oh, and im using a NakiWorld Dance Pad Revolution Deluxe pad.

Some USB adapters have a so-called "dance mode" (where the D-pad is mapped to buttons, rather than joystick axes) and some don't. Typically, to set an adapter to "Dance mode", you press start+select+up for 3 seconds. Unfortunately, there's no indicator light on the adapter to tell if you've properly set the mode or not. You have to go into the joystick troubleshooting in the control panel and view whether or not you can hit opposite directions.
