Hey, so i finally got my CF pad, i opened it up and my huge smile turned to a confused look. it looks like my CF pad was put together by a friggin 2 year old! all the pads were off center and all the screws were off center. and i was under the impression that the screws were supposed to be flush with the dancing surface. so after taking apart the pad and putting it back together i finally have a pad that i like. So my question is... ANYONE ELSE AS DISAPPOINTED AS I AM ABOUT THEIR PAD CONSTRUCTION? and are the screws supposed to be flush so when you dance with socks on you don't feel them? so if anyone can let me know that would be great! thanks everyone!

No, I am not disappointed. Playing with socks is a horrible idea because 1) socks can rip, 2) i find it easier to apply pressure using shoes, 3) you can easily slip and that sucks when doing crossovers. Use shoes because that is the best way to play on a CF. And what do mean when you say that the screws were off center?

I was never disappointed in my Flux. The screw heads are against the pad, but not "flush" flat with the surface. But I would never try to play on it without shoes for reasons bingoman303 said.

you are actually the only human to be disppointed in the flux. I even own a different brand of metal pad and I still love the flux.

And what do mean when you say that the screws were off center? the screws were crooked. its like someone purposely screwed them all in at a 45 degree angle.

Well, your screws should definitely not be crooked. If it's as bad as you say it is, then you should email CF about it and see what they think. And I hope you're exagerrating when you say that they are in a 45 degree angle. If that really is the case, then CF messed up big time.

If that really is the case, then CF messed up big time. Last I read on the CF site, they were severely back-ordered on parts, which lead to a large number of back-ordered pads. They may (and this is pure speculation on my part) have rushed the "27 stage assembly and quality control process" in order to get a few more units out the door. In any case, they (by all accounts) are a pretty stand-up organization, and an e-mail to their customer support with a few close-ups of the issues with construction should be enough to set things straight. Oh, and just to echo the sentiments of others, you really shouldn't play on a metal mat without shoes. That's just asking for trouble.

I can't play with shoes on with my metal pad since it makes far too much noise, but I've certainly suffered the conciquences. I've sliced my foot open more times than I can count to the point where its taken a month to heal.

I play them in shoes, and even with shoes on metal mats, the edge has sometimes gotten caught on screws/brackets and gotten a little cut up. I don't wanna think about if it were my foot there instead.

I was playing on my afterburner, which as you all may or may not know has the arrows lowered, and I moved my foot across one of the screws. and it wasn't a horrible cut but it hurt like no other. So like the ITG (and DDR) machine say right near the bar: "Use Common Sense While Playing"

So, i guess that i can say ive been pretty dang lucky i havent cut my foot open then... but yeah i think im gonna shoot them a message and tell them what was up with my pad, maybe they did throw it together to get some more out the door. dont get me wrong about my complaining, i still love my cf pad. i just had to fix it when i got it... ill keep everyone updated on anything that i hear from CF. oh and if anyone was wondering why the heck i play in socks... i learned to play DDR on a soft pad so if i wore shoes it would tear the thing up so i got use to playing in socks. so playing in shoes throws me off and i have a hard time even playing light mode songs...
