I just got the latest stepmania and want some annoucers on there, i downloaded the announcer pack already but where do i put it?

put the robostepper announcer folder inside of stepmania/announcers folder, this applies with all announcer folders. then you need to go into options/appearence options to select the announcer you want to use.

Does anyone know where I can find really good info on using announcer files for the Mac version of StepMania? I followed the info for the pc version and enabled it in the options menu, but still no announcer  Also the same with the dancers. I've been able to choose the dancer, but when it goes to load the song that I've selected it quits on me. Other wise everything else is fine on the system. |

You need to download the Bones files for the dancers and have it in the dancers main directory. I have made announcer packs and have dozens of them that work with my mac version of SM, so you must not be putting things in the right directories.

I've downloaded the bones for them and was able to get the character to show up in the selection category, but when I chose Sailor Moon. It would try to load the song, but then would kick me out with an error message. Oh well... still loving it though. |

I tried Robostepper and he was pretty funny. I love it when I do poorly and he says, "You have shamed the human race."
I wish there were a way to have it randomly use the announcer voices from several different packs. Then I wouldn't get sick of them so quickly.

Have I told you lately how much I love Robostepper. I just found out that if you get a 200 Combo, he will say something like "200 Combo Attained." That's great because then I don't need to look at the combo to see how much I have and then screw up on the arrows and lose it.
BTW, quadrollersk8r, you said you were working on a female announcer voice. How are you going on that? Is it available yet? I've loved Robostepper so much that I think that I love her too.

Well, she is pretty much finished... for some time actually. I have been reluctant about putting her up because she is not as polished as robostepper is. I might put her up this weekend since I am on vacation, but no promises. I am glad you like robostepper, for me it was a project out of need to replace the irritating "cheesy" announcers that everyone else puts out there. I may again make yet another announcer in the future if there are enough requests.
