The only way I know to avoid doing the swap is to get your PS1 modded at a gaming store. A lot of import stores will probably have some way to take your system somewhere to get a chip modded into it. It usually costs around $30 for a PS1 and like anywhere from $50 - 90 for a PS2... it's a lot more convenient

If you're using the swap method with that PS X-change disc or something like that, I'm afraid you're outta luck and you will have to enter the codes each time. If you're using the swap trick with a plug-mod (this is what I do), all you have to do is enter the code once and it'll be stored in that handy little device. I also hear even if you do have a mod installed ur PSX (unless it's a stealth mod) you still have to enter the codes using a gameshark or plug-mod. So whatever the scenario, if you have a psx that has the serial port in the back go for the plug-mod which runs for about $30. You'll still need to swap discs but u can store the anti-piracy and anti-import codes for all games in the device. Hope that helps.
P.S. Rock on! 4th Mix is the BEST mix ever made

I've heard "rumors" that the new Pro Action Replay device for PSX2 allows to play imports too. Don't know if this is true or not, but its what I've heard. If this is true then I will definetly get 4th mix.
