Hi all. Tonight I popped Ultramix 2 back in for the first time since putting Ultramix 3 in, and it gave me issues. I want to say every 4th-5th song it would hang when loading to the point where I would restart my Xbox. It would load like normal, take longer than it should, go silent, try again, rinse repeat...I finally walked around my apartment waiting to see what would happen if I let it be and it actually finally loaded but with no sound. I let the song fail and went all the way back to the beginning logo and still no sound until I restarted.
Has anyone had this problem? o.o'''

Check the disc for any dust or scratches. Clean it off if nessecary (carefully, so you don't scratch it).
Beyond that, I don't own an XBox, so I can't really say much.

How long have you had your xbox? Have you ever cleaned it? I have taken mine apart to clean it before to get all the dust and such out. It is really easy to take a part, and over the coarse of a couple years a lot of dust gets in there.

I don't take mine apart. I just use one of those air dusters on my consoles every so often. That way you don't loose out on your warrenty...if you haveone...
for instance...when the PS2's all strted going bad because of the allignment problem they were forcing people to PAY to get them fixed...when it was clearly their eror in constructing it. After a fair amount of bi-tching and what not I got them to fix mine for free...which I'm sure they wouldn't have done had it been tampered with....
modding is cool if you can afford it and taking it apart is cool...if you know how to put it back together...me? I'm a wussy and wouldn't risk it.

I wiped the disc gently and there aren't any scratches and there wasn't any dust on the disc. Mine wasn't quite launch, but it was close. I think I got it just before Thanksgiving launch year, and launch was Nov. 15th. I've never taken the Xbox apart and have no desire to. If I screwed up and it broke I'd feel like I should just buy a 360 instead but I checked the backwards compatability list and none of the mixes are on there. :/ I'll probably get a can of compressed air at lunch today, but I'll also try clearing the Xbox cache via the "load three other games" method before playing tonight. UM2 was fine before I popped in UM3, so who knows? The dirty disk error probably was what did it; I remember that happened all the time when I used to play Morrowind 3 on my Xbox. (I have the non-GOTY edition, which was notorious for dirty disk errors and other load/freeze issues once you played far enough into the game.) I did notice that I got fewer load freezes if I let the song score stay up a few seconds longer than needed and didn't select a new song right away. So maybe it is a cache issue... If all else fails and it keeps up, at least it'll be just an annoyance and not a deal-breaker like it would be on a regular game. It's not the worst thing that could happen, when you consider I probably needed the breather that restarting the machine gives.

No none of the Ultramix games are BC yet, but there is a new DDR for 360 that comes out in the fall I think

*blink blink* Is my brain just fried because it's Friday, or was this meant to be in another thread?
OT: It worked that night when I used compressed air on the Xbox and I cleared the cache and it hasn't given me problems since. ;D

No, it's in the right thread. You made a comment about buying a 360, but that the Ultramixes weren't on the Backwards compatiblity list. Pyro, confirmed that none of the are Backwards Compatible (BC), but noted that there is a new DDR game coming to the 360 later this year.
