Aiight. I know this is a weird request for a DDR site but the Xbox I have been playing DDR on is about to leave my house in a few days. I am going out hunting for a console tonight at the local Gamestop, EB Games, Toys R Us, etc. but my loving boyfriend already tried to look two weeks ago and everyone was still sold out because of Nationally Sanctioned Consumerism Week (formerly known as Christ's Supposed Birthday, and even more fomerly known as Yule).
Does anyone on here have a recommendation for purchasing an Xbox online just in case I am unsuccessful? Websites or even if someone wants to unload one? I'm wary of purchasing an Xbox on Ebay, and I want a new one (or at least a relatively new one). Also, I'm looking for speed here - time is definitely a factor.
I want to take my time and shop around but I'm afraid that if I slack off for more than two or three days, I'm going to give up on DDR as a way to lose weight. So far, I've been very good about working out at least every other day, but I know myself, and I know that if I let it go for too long, I will most likely get very lazy and not go back to doing it on a regular basis. So if anyone has had experience purchasing Xboxes online and can offer some advice, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I will probably have the opportunity to work out tomorrow, but by Friday, I will need a new way to work out. I'd be thinking about Stepmania, but I'm not creative enough to make steps to MP3's. Thanks for the help!

I'd recommend calling every electronics store you can find and see if they have it in stock, and if not see when they will. Chances are you'll get one quicker from a store than you will off ebay, which can take up to weeks to deliver. I don't play stepmania, but from what I hear you can download simfiles for them, without having to create your own. But an Xbox to USB converter so you can plug your pad in, and you're ready to play. Upside of Stepmania is it's free, and from what I understand so are the simfiles. You'll probably be able to find a much larger range of songs than you would find on Ultramix, 1 or 2, and a converter is is going to cost you far less than what a new Xbox would. I found a link for you on basically what a converter is (if you didn't already know www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-2b-70-252.htmlYou might have to look harder for one locally, but if you want one quick they can always order it for you. Good luck Oh yea, NO SIMFILE REQUESTS!!!![/i] (Just thought I'd throw that in there )

LOL . . . like I haven't seen that simfile statement enough in the last week or so. I'd have to be stupid to ask for them on here. (I'M NOT ASKING FOR THEM, IN CASE ANYONE WAS CONFUSED.) I went to a Target and a Walmart (even tho I normally boycott Walmart) and asked, and they were still sold out. However, my b/f took in my distress over not being able to DDR and talked to the roommate who's leaving . . . he agreed to maybe leave the Xbox here for a few weeks so I can continue my workouts until we can get one of our own. I'll find out what he decides tomorrow. Still, if anyone has a website they have bought an Xbox console off of that they can recommend, I'd love to hear what they have to say. UJKitten

I wasn't confused. There's a clear difference (though maybe I do need to define it) between a simfile (song/stepchart that's identical to a DDR release) and creating your own MP3s/stepcharts out of your own music for use with Stepmania.

I knew you weren't asking for them, I was just kidding I've been wanting to do that ever since I started here lol. I understand what you mean about getting discouraged though. I can safely say that this is the first time in my life I've actually stuck to a weight loss plan; and I've been trying to lose weight since I was 11. That'll be awesome of your roomate if you can keep the XBox for a while... though I wouldnt worry too much about not wanting to play after a few days. After a few weeks I could see someone wanting to drop it, but I know I'd be antsy as anything if I couldnt play Absense makes the heart grow fonder, right? Blah whatever, I just woke up lol. Good luck though, Im sure youll find a way around it

Both Gamestop and EBgames websites have the ability to look at the stock of locations within X miles of a specific zipcode. They should have new or refurbished Xboxes available.
And according to the Best Buy website, there are xboxes available at the Best Buys at Security Blvd, White Marsh, Glen Burnie, and Towson.

Sorry to psisar & abrannan, I was just being sarcastic about the simfile thing . . . it wasn't directed at either of you personally . . . Anyway . . . thanks for the vote of confidence, psisar, but sometimes I wonder if I have the least amount of motivation of any human being *anywhere*. I'm pretty lazy . . . I could really see myself losing motivation if I let myself go for more than a week. I'm like that with any kind of physical exercise . . . if I don't do it at least every other day, I won't do it at all. I guess we'll see what happens . . . To abrannan . . . you're so ever-helpful to me. Thank you. (^^) The Security Best Buy is right across the street from a Bennigan's I used to work at, but that Bennigan's was robbed twice when I worked there (for less than a year.) I will go check it out, but I think it will have to wait until my b/f has time off to go with me . . . maybe tomorrow after he's off work or saturday morning . . . I don't have my own car, or I'd go check out the other locations today. Baltimore's public transit sucks big donkey . . . well, you get the idea. Thanks to you both for the help! UJKitten

Sweeeeeeeeeeeet. I've been searching for apartments on Craig's List . . . I hadn't really bothered to look on the main page for what else they had available (the 8 or so people I know that've moved to LA in the last year found their current living situations through Craig's List.) I think I remember seeing personals or something on there, so I just went straight to the housing section . . . I never thought they would have an electronics section! Thanks Pyrochaos! UJKitten
