Ultramix 1 or 2? I understand (I don't have an Xbox myself) the Ultramix 1 is pretty difficult, and DDR is hard to begin with.

I think it's Ultramix 1 because all it says is ultramix. It's fricken hard to do!!! I am able to do one song right now........and it only has 1 foot thing so the easiest one there is.

If you can afford to, get Ultramix 2. It has beginner mode, and you can do SO many more songs on it!! ;D
I'm still rather new to it myself, and LOVE IT so much over Ultramix 1

There are two other options:
1. Edit the songs to make them easier: This is time consuming, but it is better than getting frustrated and not playing.
2. Go on Xbox Live and buy the Song Packs: They have at least a couple of two footer songs on there, but the Xbox Live membership and the seven song packs will cost you as much as buying U2.
I would definitely recommend going with Ultramix 2 if you have the extra cash. Otherwise, After The Game Of Love is going to be your only friend (and eventually, hated enemy).

LOL "After The Game Of Love" is the only one that I can do!!!!!! The other ones are way too hard!!!!
Unfortunately with a baby, we don't have the extra cash to go buy a new game. This was a big splurge just to get the dance pads and the game.

I bought a second DDR Ultramix 2 bundle (wanted to have matching Konami-brand pads), and would be happy to sell you my extra copy of Ultramix 2 (still in its shrinkwrap) for $30, shipping included.
If you're interested, but don't want to give money to someone on a discussion forum you never met before, I will put it up for a "buy it now" auction on eBay and send you the link. I plan to make it available to auction on eBay anyway, but I figured I'd offer free shipping to folks on this list who own pads but haven't gotten the new mix yet.

This is my first post.. hehe.. HIYEEE! But uh..
What I WISH Konami woulda done was have a training mode like some of the PS1/2 versions had.. Thats what taught me how to play DDR.. also, when selecting a song on Ultramix1 , hold down the A button on your pad to bring up the options menu, make sure it's on Light at all times when first starting off... It'll make life a lot easier/funner. BPM, keep it low, ya know, but not too low either, I hate those songs that are below 100 BPM, I need SOME speed hehe.. but anyway, yeah.. You'll like it.

Even though the song is old, I still can't AA Ballad for You. Those last few steps are so counter-intuitive that I get an Almost almost every time.
I recommend Sana Mollete Ne Ente
It was the first song I could get an A on and it isn't quite as irritating as After The Game of Love.

Well I've been dancing for a few weeks now and I've got a LOT better.........until my husband informed me that I was doing it wrong, LOL. I stand in the center and tap my foot around to the different arrows but he says that I should be going all around the dance pad, not just standing in the center. Haha. So now I'm re-learning but it's way easier this way.

Tedlick Can you PM me (not sure how to do that) with your email address so I can get a hold of you about the game.
Thanks Angela

The standing in the middle technique is the first stage of learning.
For me, the second stage was jumping to the beat and trying to hit as many of the buttons as I could.
After that, I finally learned how to step on the arrows and keep my foot there until I needed to move it again.
Depending on how much practice you have and how well you can keep a beat, you probably can skip the second stage and just move on. When an arrow comes, step on it and keep your foot there until you need to move it again.

Thats the ONE thing I really don't like about the game.....it doesn't show you how your supposed to do it....they kind of just throw ya to the wolves.

Actually, when they made the game, they didn't realize that there would be so many different ways of playing it. If you read the dictionary section of ddrfreak, it will tell you when each step and technique was "invented" or "discovered." www.ddrfreak.com/library/dictionary.php
